I got some under armor liner gloves that are nice, but got them in large and they tend to bunch up on the fingers a bit....should have gotten mediums.. May end up getting they under armor cold gear bow gloves I was looking at.

i use a pair of mittens that the finger pocket folds back and velcros to the back side of it. it woks well with my wrist release. if it is really cold i have a cheap pair of gloves i got from dicks that are really thin and i just put them under the mitten. no problems as of yet. I use a wrist release btw not one of the ones that you hold in your hand

Just got my first elk on the 28th... with a bow too! Yeehaw!

    With my bow thus far,
One Muley buck, one cow elk, and numerous grouse, squirrels and rabbits.

Martin Jaguar (10 years old), 2117 Easton Aluminums and 125gr NAP Hell Razors.

    Thought I'd share.

Hey I was wondering what people use for homemade targets? I have a 50# bear kodiak I use for target practice and the arrows go right through hay bales. I was thinking of stacking cardboard sheets together? I don't want to blow $50+ on a store bought target. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

I go to carpet stores and get the scraps and old carpet they remove. i then cut them into what ever size i want and stack them on plywood with ratchet straps around the top and bottom. then you can tighten them or loosen them as needed. the target will be very heavey so you will want to build it where you plan to leave it. i put mine on wheels and spent probably $50 dollars on everything but i have been shooting it for 4 years and it has a ton of life left.

my bowrange targets are like this. they go so far as to coat them with some black, non-sticky stuff to keep out water.

just so we are all on the same page, i think 225 is saying you are shooting at the edges of the stacked carpet. you stack a bunch and compress it down, and it will stop ANY fieldtip arrow. my bow range buys them from some company in OR. they come strapped tightly with metal strapping. amazing stuff.

i want to DIY one as well. just too lazy to start collecting remnnants.

thanks for the suggestions fellas! I went to the cut off bin at a Lowe's and picked up some carpet for $15 and then built a frame out of scrap 2x2, 2x6, and 3/4" plywood. thing is sturdy as hell, cheap and I'll test it tomorrow. it's about 16"in dia. portable.

You'll have $50 in a home made target as well. I broke down and spent the $50 on a Delta Speed Bag. Been shooting at it for 3 years. Can hardly tell. Stops arrows and you can pull them out with 2 fingers.
