Here in the Midwest we have the dreaded Asian Carp and we run boats down the river and shoot them while they jump out of the water. A lot of fun but you can get hurt if you’re not careful, they get up to 20-30 pounds and hurt like a bitch when they hit you.

They also have an excessive amount of slime and stink twice as bad as other fish.

I saw 4 does yesterday at like 40-50 yards. So close yet so far. Not bucks though unfortunately. I agree with you though.

Bucks I saw were out of range. Maybe 150 yard. Bachleor group. One of a nice 8 point (I believe). Had a 4 point in range, but let him go. Taking my time. A lot of sign. Rubs everywhere. My brother got a really fat and mature 8 point last weekend. Great season really. Hope I get my chance soon. I hate being stuck in the city for work. Only can get up north on weekends.

Tomorrow will be one of those days where you pack on the warm clothes in the morning and shuck most of it for the afternoon hunt. 35 to 65 degrees. We'll see what happens.

October lull plus the moon is almost full which affects their feeding patterns. I had 2 does walk by me tonight and seen 5 driving out but no bucks.

One more week then I’m on vacation for 3 weeks. I think a guy should be concentrating on late mornings right now 9:00 to noon.

Had a strange thing happen last night. When I walked to my blind I got about 100 yard and noticed a deer right behind it feeding. It was a fawn. I stopped, got low, and stayed still.

15 minuted later, the damn deer still looking at me has not moved. My old Man was right behind me about 20 yards down the tail also froze.

I got sick of waiting and it was obvious the deer knew my position so I stood up, ignored the deer, and walk to my blind.

The fawn continued eating. Did not care about me or my old man.

Eventually it ran off. I saw no deer that night, but I literally could have hand fed that little fawn.

Never had that happen. It's mother was MIA.

I'm off this week, then work a week then off 5th-11th. Really looking forward to that week. I agree about the 9 till noon, but, man, that's tough to do this early. You are 100% right about the full moon deer movement tho.

I keep telling myself to sleep in and get in stand about 8:00 but I also hate to give up the first 2 hours of daylight. While I’m vacation I’ll hunt as long as I can then take a break for 1 or 2 hours and then head back out .

It's hard to pass up the first couple of hours. I've done that a couple of times and felt like an idiot. But it's probably a good idea.

I say a really good one a couple of years ago at around 8am. I stayed up till 10:30 then went back to the truck until noon. Got right back in the tree at noon and saw nothing the rest of the day. I was sure he would come back in there that day. He probably did at 11am.
