I would rather be either of those places! I am stuck in the office. Have an indoor 3D shoot tomorrow but it's supposed to snow down that way so I am not sure if I am still going.

Well...Looks like about 10 inches on the patio table and it’s supposed to snow for another 24 hours.36978F47-A911-4DF9-9FF8-7ABAA72B3973.jpg

Glad to find this thread! I’ve never tried archery, but I got my kid a crappy toy bow that came with equally crappy arrows while we were on a recent camping trip. I have a health condition that causes me to cramp up and get really stiff, and whenI was fooling around with it, it really felt good on my arms and back. So, want to get myself something for target shooting. What do you need to know to help me get rolling?

you need to get your draw length measured. then set a price you want to spend. It also depends if you are just wanting a traditional style bow or compound. Lots of other variables, arrow size/type, broad heads, sights etc...

Where would I do that? Should I go to a cabellas or bass pro, or would I do better to find a specialist?

Guessing traditional because it seemed to be the work of drawing that felt good. Compounds are easier draw right?

You can get started at a Cabelas/basspro, but they are going to want you to spend $1000 for their high end bow, then $500 in accessories...Id get measured at a bass pro then if theres a smaller bow shop near you go there and check out what info they have.

depends on the poundage of bow and cam let off/release. Are you going to try hunting someday? A compound bow with 80%let off and 50-60lb draw is easy enough to draw and plenty to kill a deer.
