Oooooooo I like this thread :). I just picked up a Samick Sage take down with 35# arms. Have only shot a few arrows in my back yard at some card board but have been meaning to hit up the local range and get some practice in. Haven't shot a bow on over a decade haha

Agreed. I go out to the range by my house a lot. But the heat is killing me on how long I can shoot for.

I've had very good experience with Vapor Trail strings. So have many of the guys I shoot with.

So, my peep sight is moving a bit. I just put it back before shooting. I'm doing alright but its not a perfect group at 30 yd. I was told its the d-loop (pretty sure that's what its called, where you clip on the trigger?). I'd rather not dish out the cash for a new string on a bow I just bought.

    any truth to this?

just make sure the d-loop is lined up with your peep and use d-loop pliers to get it nice and tight.

I don't see how the dloop is affecting your peep sight. I'd get a second opinion.

It is moving, moving not the string itself. So when I put the trigger on and apply pressure it will cinch on the string and move the peep sight. If the d loop stayed in one place then everytime I pulled back the peep sight should be in the same place.

Any smaller shop should tie a new d loop on for nothing... It's about 2 cents worth of material and if you've done a few they take a minute at most.

FWIW with my APA (with brand new strings) the peep was wandering a little and the guy I deal with took the string off, put an extra full twist in it, and then put a new d loop on, and it hasn't moved since

dont you live in Tuscon? man, PSE and tuscon are just about Ebony/Ivory. Bull Basin Archery is a FANTASTIC shop.

i am shooting Winner's choice strings. my peep doesnt move. at all.

Baby..if your peep is just moving a tiny bit, but is consistent, you can kinda compensate with the D-loop. you have to line the loop up so it "counter pulls" the peep in the right direction. you will need to pull the D-loop tight after you make the adjustment. if you have D-loop pliers awesome. i dont. i stuff a pair of needle nose pliers into my loop and open them with both hands. the jaws spreading pulls the loop pretty damn tight.

on Archery talk there are so many damn string builders. you can get custom strings anywhere from $50 to $100, but you will need to pay someone to install them.

Going for deer this year in zone D16. Hopefully with the bow, and if not I'll try with the rifle.
