I forgot to mention, we are starting to find some dead deer in this area, southern Iowa, North eastern Missouri and West Central Illinois. Apparently we will not escape EHD outbreaks this year, I just hope the impact isn’t to severe!!

I've not heard of this and would totally sign up as a mentor.
Last year I took a new engineer, who was originally from Miami FL area and haven't spent much time outside, out on a deer hunt.
I did the same thing, went and got him licensed up. Got him comfy on my crossbow I bought for my nephew and let him use my old camo. The next night we sat over my small .25 acre turnip plot and had a decent doe come in. Perfect heart shot at 25yd. Deer piled up right next to the plot, basically opposite where the shot was. I had him track it anyways to understand the full process. Field dress and help me hung it to break it down.
HE TELLS EVERYONE HE KNOWS ABOUT THIS STORY AND HOW MUCH HE LOVES VENISON.
I shot two bucks and two does last year myself....the hunt with this engineer was the most rewarding. I suggest any of you to do this if you get the opportunity to!

Food plots are doing well here in Northern WI. Working on my wife’s gun stand. Bow stands are ready for next weekends opener. Skeeters are thick right now and fawns still have spots.

I never had luck with the thermacell...mosquitos landed on it like I made them a heating pad.

We use them religiously when bear hunting. But I tried it once deer hunting and the deer stayed outside of bow range and were on edge the whole time it was on. They we’re checking the wind constantly.

Just got back from renewing the lease for my son and I. Found out the caretaker has been getting pics of bear in the area. Looks like I'm picking up a bear tag as well.
