    I get how you feel.

Couple years ago found 2 dead deer in a field my dad was mowing for hay at the time that had been shot with a bow. Doe and a fawn. I called NC Wildlife and they said "if you didn't see it happen we can't do anything about it". I said don't you want to come take pictures and knock on some doors? Nope. Nothing.

Didn’t fill my tag this year, not sure I’ll have time to go back out for another tag. Still some good times with my huntin partner. Wet boots, killer mosquitos, long hikes, altitude sickness, wildfire south of us, and some killer trout fishing sessions. Living up to my license plate lol

So here’s the story. Got in the stand today at 5:30. Was sitting there praying and looked over to my right and saw a small buck. He was 20 yards in some trees and was smelling. The wind was awful today and I’m in a bottom with a big hill in front of me. He stands there for a couple minutes and runs off. Didn’t make a sound.

I text my wife and told her what happened. She said maybe big boy has allergies and can’t smell.

6 minutes later, the way the wind was supposed to be blowing to my left according to HuntStand, I hear a small noise and look over and it’s this 8 pt. and it’s 6:35. He was gonna be behind trees for 3 more seconds so I grabbed my bow off my lap and drew back. Didn’t want to scare him so I shot him while he was walking.

Watched the arrow go in and he ran up the hill and to the left in front of me. I knew he was hit good, heard him in the thick stuff crash about 100 yards away.

I checked cameras today. Got 2 pic of a pretty good one. The pics kinda suck cause I didn't download to laptop, I took a pic of my card reader with my phone.
The first 2 are the same pic, just zoomed in. The third pic is the same deer a minute later.

I hate to hear that. It got pretty bad here a few years ago. You could definitely tell for 3 or 4 years that the numbers were down. Seems to be better now.
That being said, there is a big difference from when I started hunting Illinois in '93 compared to now. Just a ballpark, out of the air number, I would guess I see 30% less deer/season then back then.
