Found our hitlist deer. County record is 121. One of us will be the proud owner of the new record if we can drop him. He's a little spindly but I think he is over 120. D569F04D-6CEC-4ECC-9540-35B6FBA4DD1A.jpg

Where you located...I take so much for granted when it comes to deer hunting. I’m hunting for a 160 plus unless I can get a big 8 at 140 or better for a European mount. We’re pretty heavy on 8 point genetics so harvesting a few wouldn’t hurt a thing.

Habersham County GA. Atlanta suburbs and South Georgia hold all the 160+ deer. We are northeast. This is an excellent deer for this area. We are aware that if we leave him alone another year he could be a beast. We just have a lot of meat hunters near us that would not hesitate to drop him.

Speaking of Atlanta suburbs. You guys google Lee Ellis Georgia Deer Hunting. He kills those deer in an archery only county between million dollars houses downtown. He lays 1 or 2 180+ deer down every year. It's sickening. He puts the work in though. Lot of people here are mixed on his ethics. I say more power to him.

I understand, I have a lot of hunters around me that shoot the first set of horns they see, usually a 1.5 or 2.5 and they complain because they don’t see any BIG bucks.

Sheesh. It was a war zone around us the last couple days and you can only shoot bucks with a rifle right now. Forkhorns dropping I'm sure. We haven't fired a rifle on our property in 2 years unless it was a coyote. 2 of us bow hunt as well as gun. We are part meat part horns depending on the numbers we see, simply because we know what's happening around us. If that was south Ga it would be a baby. We would let it walk at least 2 more years. We are not in a "big deer" area unfortunately.

I used to hunt with a guy that came to Illinois for a week every year and never came home with less than a 180 that field dressed at 200lb. Completely insane. We would shit when he showed us pics. Y'all are in heaven up there.

It’s not all glorious. We are overrun with outfitters and they control a shit ton of land. Mature deer being 5-6 are getting really hard to come by. Illinois has a piss- poor DNR and don’t believe in deer herd management. To them the deer herd is a cash cow and they just keep throwing more permits out there. The Farm Bureau and insurance company’s are in bed with politicians and they say kill, kill, kill!!!

It is probably worse as far as DNR and politicians here believe it or not. The outfitters are in South Ga though but cannot be as bad as IL.

12 deer a year with antlers restrictions on the second buck. Only 2 bucks per year but 10 doe. Lol. Ridiculous. KILL EM ALL and lots of people do.

We have a 2 buck limit per year. There is no limit on does, kill as many as you want as long as you buy the permits.

Weather has turned kinda shitty here, been raining for about 2 hours. I’ve only seen 1 fork horn but since I’m in a pop up and staying dry I’m going to make a day of it.

That deer don’t look like he would have many deductions, he should be in the 130’s. Hope you can get him!
