Score!! Picked up my FREE topper tonight. Clearcoat is peeling a bit on the top and the hardware needs a little lovin’ but hot damn, it was free!! Even “she who must be obeyed” was impressed!

Yea, right?! Father in law got a topper for free but I’m pretty sure it was from the 80’s and about 2” too long for his truck bed

I love a good topper. I coughed up the money for a softopper for my F250 for sleeping on hunting trips. Tested it out on my land and it was perfect! But, security of gear is an issue when traveling. Don’t get that with canvas

I got it specifically for elk hunting. 1. Keep my stuff safe(better than open bed) and dry on the 30 hour drive. 2. Will be my base camp and used for sleeping. Came off a 2010 Tacoma, so the fit was perfect!

Hell yea! I’m too big to sleep in the bed of a Tacoma, even the long bed :annoyed:

F250 is the perfect length lol. Still miss my Tacoma though.

    Can we talk arrows?

I’ve been practicing with maxima red 350 with 100 grain field tips. I’ve also got a handful of maxima hunter 350 mixed in. Both shoot the same.

this trip in September is creeping closer. Should I switch to another arrow for the actual hunt? Stick with the same? If the same, y’all have a website I can order customized maxima red arrows? My local dealer apparently fired their bow tech so I can’t get the same arrows cut.

gimme some experience. I know I’ve been asking this a lot lately but I’m trying to set myself up for success. I’m accurate to 50 with the reds (approx 6” groups)

Practice with the same arrows you are going to hunt with. If you change arrows...use those. Dont mix unless you know they fly the same. Some arrows will fly better with certain bows...and i practice with the same broadheads i hunt with.

Should be able to order arrows here.
    https://www.lancasterarchery.com/

Also...there are folks on here that are way more knowledgable about archery than myself but...I stopped shooting field points 25 years ago. I use one or two broadheads for practice (since that's what I'm hunting with) and leave the rest of them in the package until hunting season. It tears the hell out of a target, but I'm not a fan of shooting field points. Stupid? Probably, but that's how I practice.

Maxima Reds are fantastic arrows. I shot them for a few years but stopped for the same reason I stopped shooting ACC's. $$ They are a little pricey. And after robin hooding a number of them it got expensive. That was the only downside. If your bow is currently tuned to shoot them, I wouldn't change at this point. I'm currently shooting Easton 5mm Axis 340's 29" long with a 50 grain brass insert. Fletched with 2" Blasers and tipped with either Magnus 100 gr Stingers or 100 gr Vipertricks.

As @StayinStock mention LAS will be able to hook you up with what you need. I'm fortunate. They are about 20 minutes away.

21 days till deer opens in S Florida. Nothing like hunting in 90deg weather. Bugs and heat are out of control but I can’t wait!!

    Da phuc??

I can't stand archery season in PA when the temps are in the 70's let alone 90 ****ing hot humid degrees!! Been trying to get my workouts (3 mile walk 40-50lb pack) done early morning. Yesterday I didn't. It was 85 degrees when I started and about 450 degrees when I stopped. I will say my First Lite merino short sleeve shirt is doing it's job. Have at least a weeks worth of workouts in it and it only started to get smelly yesterday. Love my First Lite stuff. Kuiu is nice, doesn't seem as comfy as the First Lite stuff.

So I was just gifted a Matthews Reezen 6.5 from a friend's dad who couldnt use it anymore. Question is, what on earth do i do with it? aside from taking it to the bow shop to set it up for my draw length and weight. It needs a new string but its fully loaded aside from a string stop

Lol I guess I set myself up for that one. Earlier this year I bought a Matthews Triax so I don’t need another bow, much less one that 15 years old. I was just trying to come up with creative ideas on what to do with it

It'll need a new cam module as well for draw length adjustment. If it was me, I'd keep it for a backup, or maybe after shooting it, it might become your goto rig. Or you could sell it. Mathews are like Tacoma's. They hold their value.

I have two Mathews in the stable. One is a FeatherMax that will see it's 21st hunting season should I take it out. Another is an LX that is on it's 15th season. Both are backups.

You could find a youngster in need of a bow, would make them very happy to have a brand name bow for free
