I don’t THINK you did, but I went home after my first sit, had a beer and watched a movie, then headed back out. But it’s like every single thing at the next spot when wrong. I forgot my tether to pull the bow up, the tree stand broke, had a hard time not falling out while trying to climb down, things kept getting stuck (like a belt loop on a door handle type stuck) neighbor was a dick and he got a deer which scared them away from me. It’s comical how poorly the afternoon went. But I’ll be back at it in the morning and I have a pretty good feeling about it.

sorry your sit didn’t end well, you goin out tomorrow too?

we can’t hunt on Sunday here.

I have way to much stuff to do getting ready for winter anyway.
My free Hunting time is limited.
So when I go I treasure the experience weather I see something or not.

A fresh start Is always good when you had a day like you did yesterday..
Enjoy and snag a big one.. lol

Why not get a climber? If you pick a few good trees and get good at it, you could be up for a day and climb down when you are done. Probably take you thirty minutes to set up each time but it takes me 15 already to get my harness on and into the tree quietly. Limits you to certain trees but it’s doable.

I use my old Loggy climber from time to time. But mostly I use hang-ons and climbing sticks. That way I'm not limited by tree choice. Low limbs, little crooked, knot in the tree, doesn't matter. I can get the sticks and stand around them. I will say, the ladder stands I put up for my son when he was younger are sweet!

Got up at 4am. Wanted to get out. Lower back just said no.
East wind and 46 degrees. Would of been nice.
I hunt close to home so I can pretty much get out whenever.

Anyone here do any blind calling? If so, how often do you call, and are you calling for bucks or does?

I rarely do. I always call to a buck that is going away though because...well, he's leaving anyhow, might as well see if he'll come back.
I've had the most luck getting a buck's attention by doing a snort-wheeze; if he's in the right mood it'll definitely piss him off. If he's not in the mood, he wasn't coming in anyhow.

So do you just wait and see if something comes up? Like just luck that they happen to be stopping by your stand sometime that day?

Pretty much. I hunt trails or really close to bedding areas. Or....an oak stand just outside of a swamp or bedding area, that's where it's at (imo)

Okay thanks. I just put a new stand up by a small swamp and close to a fence line. Trying to pull deer off the neighbors 50 acres of solitude.
Cool thanks, I was reading up on how pre rut calling and blind calling is fine every thirty minutes or so, but was t sure how many people are actually using that tactic.

I do. The last two buck I killed came in to a series of grunts. The one spot I hunt is downwind of 5 acre thicket that buck cruise looking for hot does. I'll give a few tending grunts every half hour or so. 3 or 4 drawn out grunts. Maybe a few bleats from a Primos can call. The one buck, snuck in behind me, hairs standing up on his back, looking for a fight. He went down for the count.

That’s awesome, thanks for the help. It would be interesting to see how fast they come in. I used to hunt coyote and some times those things would sprint right towards you, other times they’d hang back and spot you from a distance. But next weekend when I go out I’ll have to be ready for that type of response.
