The county I live in did a pilot hunt this weekend. A few lucky county residents were lucky enough to hunt it through a lottery. It is archery only for now. It’s just for hog but it’s a foot in the door for more areas to open. I didn’t connect with any pigs but didn’t care. I had an amazing time in the woods/ swamp.

Geez, you had to enter a lottery to shoot a pig?!

Our county has over 50,000 acres that is huntable land. They don’t allow hunting on any of it. They pay trappers to try and control the pig populations. We’re trying to get the county to open some of it up. I’m blessed and can hunt pigs anytime I want to, but some people don’t have that option. We’re hoping by doing some of these hunts it’ll open up deer, turkey and small game. There’s some amazing turkey hunting down here. There’s also some “huge” by our standard swamp deer out here.

Ohh that makes a little more sense. Just hard to wrap my brain around any county limiting pig hunting haha

Hello all, new member here and love to deer and turkey hunt with whatever weapon is in season. Thought I’d share this pic from a few years ago, biggest rub I’ve ever seen actually two trees rubbed. It was logged 2 years ago and the bucks still used it the first year but abandoned it this past season unfortunately. Got a bunch of different bucks that used that rub

Thanks, just got a 2012 dcsb and can’t wait to put something in the bed of it! Turkey season is just around the corner and I’m seeing a good number of birds on my lease

Lots of NC members here. Give me a minute and I'll link you to a thread in your area. Also; we love bowhunting stories here.

Theres some big 'uns in the central and NE part of the state for sure.

I was out on the boat a few weeks ago and we stopped at one of the barrier islands to let the girls explore. Ill be damned if there weren't deer tracks all over that thing. I dont know what they were after, but there has to be some plant they love in the dunes somewhere. I know deer can swim well, but never imagined they'd swim across the intracoastal waterway to an island

I was joking, there are some large ones here in the Piedmont, I've wrapped my hands around a couple of them :D

    Welcome!
    --------------
I sold my Reign 7 that posted a while ago, and have been comparing bows online through message boards and YouTube for my next one. I've spent hours at the shop shooting all of the brands side-by-side and finally decided on a Ventum 33!
All of the bows this year are awesome, that's why it was so hard to find the one. But the way the Ventum shot, I kept gravitating towards it.
If anyone is in the market for a bow a couple of years from now, bows from this year will be hard to beat! Shoot straight fellas (or ladies if there are any in here)!
