Got some decent bucks on camera the last month or so. Hoping they stick around for the rut. Got a hunt planned for my land in E TX and one more for Buffalo NY before season ends

Anyone have experience with Diamond bows by Bowtech? I’m looking at a used Diamond Rapture that I’m hopeful I can get for a good price (hopefully 150ish) then take to a shop and get it tuned and fit for me (first bow). The diamond bows seem to be well reviewed but not sure if there are any bows of the brand that I should stay away from. Went to a shop today but wasn’t able to pull any and they only had 2 used bows

they prob had it set too high or out of your draw length.

We had a diamond for my wife, she had it at 50lbs and could draw it easily. I shot it a few times. It was really light easy draw. Had to sell it because wifes shoulder surgeries wouldnt let her hold at full draw for long and caused her pain. Not cuz of the bow.

50-60lb draw is plenty to kill a deer or even elk. Fyi

I should have specified, I didn’t pull any because I didn’t request it and the guy working was dealing with another customer and I was really just kicking tires and seeing what they had in stock. But in reality no chance I’m able with to pull a 70lb bow consistently or making an accurate shot. 50-60 is probably where I’ll be. White tails in the northeast is what I’m after. Thanks for the feedback on the diamond. I liked that the draw weight and length are widely adjustable. I have longish arms so my draw length is likely between 30-31 inches

From what I could find online it looks like it goes up to 31”. I was hoping to find a used one at a shop, but their cheapest one was 315 without anything on it. No rest, sight, quiver, nothing. Gonna have to check out some more shops, but this cheap rapture leaves some $$ for tuning

I've never shot one but I've also never heard anything bad about them either. Not sure what model it is but one of them has a very large adjustment range for the poundage. I often see that recommended for beginners.

cant go wrong with muzzy broadheads, G5 also good. Most Crossbows should have a crank you can buy for them, makes it super easy

400fps is pretty fast, def get the crank. You prob be good out to 80yds easy. But the fun in bow hunting gor me is under 40yds

also note, some fixed broadheads will fly different than target heads. So always shoot with what you will be hunting with.

Follow the maintenance or string lube/wax requirements. Keep fingers away from string travel.

the pull rope will help but still its a heavy draw weight for that speed crossbow.
The crank is gonna be worth your time.

If you are hunting out of a blind anything under 40yds is going to shoot right through a deer unless you hit spine or shoulder, even then with that bow it prob will blow through and not necessarily drop it. But depends where you hit it it most likely will be mortal.Helps to find the arrow/bolt to see if theres blood on it. And what it smells like.

Oh also on practice targets, only shoot one at a time at the "bulls eye", you can and will stack the the bolts/arrows and thats expensive
