Got into elk again but couldn't get a shot. My buddy took a shot in the last 30 minutes of hunting light and missed. Hell of a spot though. I'll be getting some trail cams up in that area for next season.

I'll probably be hunting rifle with my friend there. Should be a easy kill then.

It was a bust for me...all I saw was tracks...I heard one bugle about 800yds away from me about a week ago but nothing within range. I jumped a couple deer last night but hunters are starting to come out of the woodwork gettting ready for rifle season :(

Thanks fellas. Weather cooperated yesterday. It was nice and grey and drizzling with temps around 60. Glad I got out yesterday because it's in the mid 70s today.

30 yard shot, slightly quartering away from me, almost broadside. Hit a little low, but still got a piece of the heart and the lower lobes of the lungs though . The entry is covered up by her right leg and it passed though and came out right in front of her left shoulder.

No actually. There are some monsters over that way but we were up out of Cloudcroft.

Ah nice! That was my second guess. Seen some big ones down there when I was working some CWD check stations and going turkey hunting. I can never get a tag down there though!

I'm just amazed at the amount of elk in that country. I would also suggest talking to some outfitters as they find lines on tags pretty quick. Talking the rancher who owns the tag down to anything close to reasonable is the hard part...

On a side note I had a double bearded tom come to my water hole while I was down there. He and 20 of his closest friends just about ruined my hunt that night
