Arrowed these two does the end of October, still holding out for a good buck. Not much moving during the rut here but expecting/hoping for an uptick in activity soon as bucks begin to search for the last remaining hot doe.

Yep, I sat again this evening. Trying to stay off that area for a day or so since I literally tracked my scent all through the biggest bedding area on my land for pigs and deer

I’ll get over it but it’s my first non recovery and for that to be on my first whitetail felt rough.

Yes we do, but because of that, we have a lot of extra hunting pressure thanks to the outfitters.

Understandable. Ohio is starting to get like that to an extent.....guys leasing up tracts for themselves but not as outfitters. Everyone seems to want to kill the next state record buck. Told my kids they may not be able to hunt except on public land someday in Ohio unless they make the big $$$. It is a shame, 30 or so years ago, you could hunt from one end of our township to the other (5 miles) and no one ever said a word. Now it is getting near impossible to find private land to hunt.

We have a lot of individuals leasing ground here too, but I can tolerate them. The outfitters that lease up 10k acres or more then bring in 150-200 hunter’s are the ones that piss me off.

Yea Montana was trying to push most of the non resident tags through outfitters and that’s real messed up for folks like me who just want to enjoy a public land hunt regardless of the outcome.

but one of these days I’m gonna get my ass up to one of those states to hunt a big boy.

I was looking for pigs too when I was home last week but surprisingly never saw a single one which is really rare for my property

Anyone ever notice that they shoot a couple inches left with a beard vs without? I’m sighted in without a beard and shot today and I was about 4” off at 30 yards consistently left. I figure face (beard) pressure problems?

I guess I’m going to have to trim my beard down? Or sight in to what I’m shooting now but it feels less consistent.
