One thing I forgot on my backpack loadout list is a decent camera. Doesn't have to be Nikon D50 (althought the D3500 comes with a decent lens and is ~$650) but something that takes a little bit better pics than a phone. I currently have an older (6yr old) Fuji Finepix that takes great photos. Decent zoom, manual as well as automatic settings. It's always in my pack. I find myself looking for photo opportunities. Contrary to what The Angry Bowhunter says, sometimes it's more about the journey, than the destination.

Man call me lazy but I just snap pics with the iPhone

not officially for sale so I don’t know. Owner is a family friend who has a nack for hiring shitbags. Just passed ownership to his kids who don’t want to deal with it. It’s a badass place and had been on the outdoor channel quite a few times

I do I lot of Iphone pics. As I've gotten older, with waaaay more sunrises behind than ahead, I try to capture the moment. Maybe it's the way a leaf looks backlit from a sunrise, the view out the cabin wndow of the huge maple, leaves all yellow, maybe a foggy morning, a field full of goldenrod with migrating Monarch butterflies, my son perfectly silhouetted against a sparkling stream, executing a perfect parachute mend with his flyrod,... Moments, forever captured.

Looking at that ranch, seems to be a nice place and the rates are actually decent for Texas. I'll have to speak to "She Who Must Be Obeyed" about $$. She always wanted a nice "little" quiet place to watch wildlife. Im sure it will be affordable for a nurse and automation engineer.

My dad thought the same thing right after I was delivered. Nurse looked at him said "Sorry, that's the umbilical cord."

Just another addtion to the Elk Pack Load out. Maybe the best $8 I spent on Amazon. In my kill kit I have a Havalon Piranta with replaceable blades. I also have a 4" Mora knife. Sometimes you just need a bigger heavier blade to break animals down. And sometimes, after much use, they lose their edge. Enter the Work Sharp Pivot Plus field sharpener. It weighs an a little over an ounce, is 3.5"lg x 1.63"w x .75"dp. And it does a damn fine job of putting an edge back on steel. The other sharpener I have is just a little to big and bulky. I figured for $8 what the heck...
