Thank you sir! I appreciate it, thinking back I've never really shot sitting down with this bow, even out on 3D courses.

I think there are some different muscles used or something...not sure about that one but...it's definitely harder!! Keep trying and best of luck!! And don't you dare forget to post pics when you get one!!

As has been said, sitting and drawing is tough. It’s got to be mechanics of muscle structure.

I’m 6’2 and 270 and in decent shape and it’s tough for me to draw my bow while sitting or kneeling, even

but, I do practice standing, sitting, kneeling, etc the same amount cause I know the day is gonna come. That’d be my advice to you. Back the draw weight down this season and practice at home. Next season crank er back up

If you think about it, your back muscles (the ones down the spine) are completely taken out of the equation when sitting I bet.

plus the inability to move wherever you want while being enclosed in a blind could be some of it. Throws off routine

Good points. It also seems like you can dig your feet in and kind of put some hip into it while standing, not the case while sitting.

I know that standing, I can overhead press more weight than I can when I’m sitting on a bench. Granted it’s not the same muscle movement but I think it’s the same reason. You’re eliminating a major muscle group

keep at it girl. Don’t get down on yourself. Shit happens and you’ll sort an answer if you go looking for a solution.

Oh there will be plenty of pictures, I think I've got the longest streak of unlucky hunting seasons. Even a hog hunt that went south quickly.

That seems to be the consensus, I will give it a shot, for sure. (Ps. Thank you for coming down outta the clouds up there to provide advice! - sincerely the 5'4" tiny tech)

See this is what bothers me, my max on a lat pull-down was 95#, sitting, my overhead press was limited to dumbbells and kettlebells at 45#, or 55# sandbag. Me being me with my background has me scratching my head, I work out to operate as a firefighter, and similar motions, so cue the frustration.

Anyway, thank you all for your advice and feedback, I will do my best to not get too down on myself. Just being out there is usually my escape/peace and it just, felt like a kick to the gut to finally have that chance and fall on my face (quite literally at one point).

I promise you...we've all had a kick to the gut out there (I had a horrible one last year)...but it's the chase and the 'what ifs' that keep us going.

I've only ever had one other, which resolved itself with new sunlight the next day. To be perfectly honest, I was raised by that dad in the "cowgirls don't cry" song, so legit crying in a ground blind was never something I would've pictured. I'm even more hungry for it now, I'll be back out the first chance I get after dropping the weight down and seeing what I can manage it at. I am glad I "spoke up" tonight, I think I've only posted here once and was hesitant. But I am glad I asked, you guys are awesome!

Oh shit so you’re a beast!! Now I get why that was also such a blow!

If it makes you feel better I’ve been hunting elk for 5 years now with zero success. First time I got a shot on a mule deer in Montana (while elk hunting) I rested my lower cam on my knee like I was shooting a rifle :anonymous::anonymous::anonymous::anonymous:

    yes I missed

also when I first started bow hunting I had it in my mind (think knuckle dragger crayon eating mentality) that I should shoot three to four dozen arrows per day to practice and get good. Threw my shoulder out for 5 weeks where I could barely lift my arm and put on my shirt. Wife had to help dress me the first week :angrygirl:

Like I said, universe has a way of keeping us humble :rofl::rofl:

 my trainer before he moved back home swore he’d get me into competition lifting. I’ve got enough hobbies as is lol. Yeah it’s been this thing of mine for a while now, when it’s something I shouldn’t have an issue lifting or moving, it just gets in my head. Call it a past trauma that I haven’t quite been able to remove from my brain. (Nerve damage really screws with your head).

 Oh no! I’ve had one or two flare ups when I first got this bow, my first compound was a bear at 35lbs and I maxed that out, moved to my mamba and had a sore shoulder for the first few months of shooting it.

For what it’s worth, my first deer I took a shot on with my 30-30 was just out of reach, but close enough that my bullet hit a rock, kicking it up into the deers underside. That deer jumped like I had a good hit. Spent a day looking thinking it was a bad shot. The owner of the property was kind enough to figure out what finally happened. Found the rock and all.

Crayon eating? You one of them Devil Dogs?

My guess is, it's draw weight. There is a definite difference in drawing a bow standing vs sitting. Another thing that could exacerbate the issue is draw length. It's possible it's a bit too long and couple that with sitting that may be an issue. Just for reference I'm 6' and my draw is 28-1/2". My son, 6'-1" his draw is 29". Wife, 5'3" draw is 26". I think it might be worth a trip to a pro shop and get it checked out. I know you said you've been shooting this bow for 3 years. Could be you've been forcing yourself to fit to the bow, instead of the bow fitting you. I know for a long time I was shooting 30" draw. Struggled with pulling shots to the left, coming to full draw in awkward positions, when it was cold... Was around 1998 when I was in at Lancaster Archery looking at new bows and they checked my draw. Was shocked to see it was 28-1/2". A full 1-1/2" less. Made a world of difference in shooting

Now to really make you feel better, the average success rate on DIY OTC elk hunt is 10%. Or once every 10 years. You have five more to go my friend. :D
