I have Moultrie and Bushnell. I'm not specific with camera brands just buy when there is a deal. Bushnell is top notch.

The cheaper the better for Public Land elk. Just in case "that guy" happens to find your camera

Bingo! I bought a $40 Moultrie Trace camera that is meant for home security and it works fine!

I'm gonna go buy at least 2 for elk this year be cause I can't hunt deer until extended archery. I've got some spots in mind just don't know how elk hunt... it'll be fun none the less.

Thanks guys, appreciate the input.
Still waiting for the area I hunt to open, it's closed for spring runoff, maybe open in early July. That'll give me close to two months to try the camera.

ditto, and I've been very happy with the quality and battery life of my discount Moultrie (can't remember the model number, and it's in the woods right now!). I had a more expensive Bushnell, it took better pictures but seemed to have shorter range activation than advertised and a little harder on batteries than the Moultrie. Good luck, post up some pics if you get anything good!

It should be a good year. Kinda bummed I can't hunt deer till the extended hunt but it's whatever. It's fun watching them grow anyway.

Im not a fan of Primos cameras. Moultrie and bushnell are decent and have some under $100. You can get cuddyback brand as well Ive heard they are good but Ive never used them. as far as batteries go Id get cameras that take "AA" anything D cell is bulky and uses a lot of power and doesnt last long. Dont go cheap on batteries I have the best luck with the Energizer lithium and ultimate lithiums. I say dont use cheap because Ive had the cameras put too much of a drain on them and cause them to leak. Its happened a couple times on cheap batteries only so I know its the batteries. The cheapo batteries also dont last long. Hope this helps
