But I usually hunt Sitka Blacktails and they are all small next to a whitetail or muley!

    If it’s brown, it’s down

joking aside I pass on so many goddamn deer hoping for a nice buck then it’s a mad dash for the last 36 hours to kill anything in sight. It’s a curse

I’ve never had a fucking hoss of a buck in my hunting career so it’s like a 25 year blueball sesh. I draw on just about everything but let down and let so much pass hoping for more lol

Bad thing is I also subscribe to “ you can’t eat the antlers” but I’m also vain. It’s a wild push/pull when hunting :rofl::rofl:

I don’t know about mid west and east, but if you hunt Muleys and or cues on public land on anything you can “easily” draw….

…You don’t pass anything legal. These units have 1-12% success rates…rifle hunting, and bows are usually about that or less obviously. Think about that. A whole unit, with 100 tags and 12 dudes walk away with a deer for that season…

    Meat is meat.:cookiemonster:
The quasi-public watershed I hunt wants the numbers reduced and I try to oblige.
I've shot huge bucks and spikers as well as does.
Off limits for me are does with late skippers.

Besides, getting a hundred twenty pounder out solo is less painful than a 200 pounder for this busted up old timer.:anonymous:

It'll be different this year as I just closed on a house 40 miles inland from my present location.
I now own a little over 4 acres bordered by 28 acres private and a sprawling "nature preserve" on the other side.
Can't use a firearm as 2 houses on a side road are just under the 500ft limit for ct.
Guess I'll be learning how to kill a Turkey with the crossbow as well.

Had 8 does and skippers hanging around the other day.
    She's healthy...

Did about a 3 mile loop on the property I hunt. Found a couple of new spots.
Came across this rub in a very thick creek bottom.

Look at that...no snow! I would kill to be able to take a stroll through the woods. Not sure I would want to step off the path, even with snow shoes, right now.

Local range had an open indoor shoot last night. Maybe 20yrds at most. Got my new release set finally, not mad at my grouping at all since I haven’t shot since last summer. Hoping to be more proactive with 3D shoots this year.

Getting an elk tag in the Valles Caldara would be a bucket list item for me!

This was during hunting season in the fall. Step out of the house and this guy is laughing at you.
