I have never hunted or been around whitetail. Is it usually a blind/tree stand hunt or is spot and stalk just as effective?

A spot and stalk is the hardest. Ladder stand or climber and blind is much better odds

Whitetail are way more spooky than muleys so spot and stalk is gonna take a pretty massive skill level.

now that being said, I’ve accidentally bumped into whitetail with a rifle on foot and was able to get a shot off so I guess that rule isn’t 100%

All about timing...i shot one out of a climber stand and it ran off...i climbed down and ran into another within bow range and shot it. Then went and found the first one i shot:D

But yes it way harder to spot and stalk

I prefer tree stands or ground blinds. Spot and stalk is a method used in western states where the landscape is predominantly open country, not so practical in the Midwest.

Hunting cues (whitetail), spot and stalk is the really the only way.

Same for Colorado whitetail, with exception if you can blind a watering hole.

I would imagine trying to still hunt through dense timber and leafy Midwest/eastern states would not be as easy as was previously said.

I grew up on Kodiak Island, spot and stalking Black tail. Have always hunted moose off the ground as well. I was thinking blind hunting sounds pretty good, just sitting there not walking miles and miles. :D Maybe a little boring though and probably a little cold later in the year. Also, not having to watch out for bear ... that would be a plus!

I just find it interesting how different the hunting is in different parts of the country.

You couldn’t effectively spot and stalk on my land in Texas just cause of the damn honey locusts lol.

when I go west it’s all spot and stalk for muleys and elk. Love that shit but also appreciate the ability to sit in one spot, in complete silence, just taking in the world around me

NM, posting for an older neighbor. If anyone is looking for a sight.

He sold his bow and didn’t get what he was asking and took off the sight. It’s a 5 pin RH sight, IQ w/rangefinder #IQ00354.

Neighbor want $130 and I can probably ship it for around $10 buck. So $140 in all.

comes with original case as picture.
