Thanks, I'm pretty excited for it. Looking forward to getting the meat in the freezer, we're starting to run low!

This is the stuff I bought for this year. I love my hunting but never worn a harness before, will never hunt again without one. After having 2 kids I can’t afford to die over stupidity. It’s not about me anymore it’s all about them!! Guys if you are not wearing one get one!!!way more comfortable than I thought can’t even tell its on if you adjust it right.

Those are both on the "to-do" list. First things first though....backstraps in the Traeger!

Unless I blow them up with a rifle...like last year :( I usually have some tenderloin stew or some form of tenderloin meal first then after sitting in the cooler a week I have a backstrap steak for a taste test ;)

Tenderloin stew sounds great! I just picked up a Ruger American .450 Bushmaster, so no more muzzleloader/shotgun hunting for me here in SE Michigan. This gun is going to be deadly this year with more precise shots....as long as they come out to play that is!

its so good! heres the recipe I use...I sometimes use the tenderloins+some stew meat. Still comes out great!

On another note I made prob the best deer stew ever!

1-2 pounds deer or beef stew meat
1-2tbl spoons of Paula deens house seasoning
1-2 table spoons of cooking oil or olive oil.
    1 onion
    2 cup chicken broth
    4 cups beef broth
    1/2 cup red cooking wine
2-4 carrots sliced into 1/2" pieces
2-4 stalks of celery sliced into 1/2" pieces
2-4 potato's cut into small cubes
1 small sweet potato cut into small cubes
    1 can of corn
    2-3 tablespoons of soy sauce
    salt and pepper to taste

this is a variation of a different recipe...but this worked out great. add or subtract water to desired consistency...
add soy sauce to deer or beef let sit for 10-15 minutes. then add 1-2 tablespoons of Paula deen's house seasoning and mix stew meat.
meanwhile saute onions untill they start to brown. Once browned to your liking add stew meat and brown meat on all sides. once browned add the cooking wine to get all the nice flavor off the pan. When this is complete add to crock pot.
in a 6qt crock pot add the beef & chicken broth. put crock pot on high setting. add celery, carrots let cook for 2-3 hours. stir every 30 minutes or so.
after 2 hours set the crock pot to low and add sweet potato, regular potato's and corn. Let "stew" for another 2-3 hours. can add peas if you like 5 minutes before serving. serve with crackers, biscuit, rolls...if desired. Also you can add red pepper flakes to individual bowl to spice it up. The rest of my family doesnt like spicey so thats how I get away with it. Hopefully this recipe is not too difficult to understand

They have a Bear Marshal for $300 right now. But I can pick up a much nicer used bow on craigslist for less than $100 more...

I had a bear and didnt like it. If I was to do it over I'd go shoot a bunch of different bows and see which I liked the best. I did however buy a Mathews and its been a great bow. I still like shooting it and its a killer. YMMV. I just dont ever see myself paying Over $1K for a bow...There are some priced over that...just saying.

The closest place to me to try out a bow is over an hour drive. The used bow is a Bowtech Invasion. The only way I'd go dual cam is with a binary system like theirs since they don't need timed. It's 5 years old, but still a better bow than anything new in the same price range.

I have a Bear Cruzer G2 and it is a pretty nice bow for what it was. I paid 399 for it at cabelas. I think the marshal is like the absolute budget bow

I know a lot of dedicated bowhunters that refuse to pay $1200-1300 for a new bow. They'll wait a year and either pick up a slightly used one, or leftover stock for a good discount. I have been toying with getting an Elite for the last two years. The one pro shop near work has a 2016 Elite Synergy on the used rack , for $575 with a Ripcord Code Red rest. The bow doesn't look like it's been shot. New hat bow retailed for $950, and the rest is typically right around $100. I plan on shooting it tomorrow. Gives me all winter to play and get it tuned.
