I’ll have to check those out next time I’m at the archery shop. Might be to much broadhead I only shoot 57lbs. Been using NAP spitfires and Rocket sidewinders, but I like to try new ones when they come out..

    57 won’t be a problem. I shoot about 60.

Maine only has a min width.
So it specifies no mechanical/ expandable?

Here in Idaho its no mechanical/expandable allowed for hunting. Ive heard they are "talking" about changing that but nothing yet. We also have the minimum sized broad head.

Well my boy just got his new bow from his sponsor Bowtech.

He says it shoots like a breeze and it’s a rocket.

Last season my Hoyt UltraTec decided to have a hissy fit and blow a string.
Was not a pleasant experience needless to say. I was lucky, it only caught the knuckles
On the last two fingers of my left hand.

Luckily there is an old timer in my area that has been working on these since time began.

So I had a choice of letting this go or upgrading some things.

So for now I repaired this beast.
All new custom made strings and ripcord fall away rest.
Does shoot smoother and grouping is more consistent
Good enough for me for now...
As long as I don’t try my boys Bowtech I’ll be fine... lol

It has been changed a few times in its life. The pro said it was a cheap string and I should be hard pressed to wear this one out. It didn’t have a lot of shots through it per say.

Which company did you go with for your new string?

Separate topic: who shoots what type release? I am thinking of switching to a thumb release after shooting my brother in law's yesterday. My wrist release has worked fine for me, but that thumb release was sweet! It was a Carter Just B-Cuz. Also toying around with the idea of a back tension/hinge release but I haven't had a problem being accurate with my trigger releases in the past.

I recently switched over to a thumb release and am enjoying it. I wouldn't recommend a back tension for hunting but target shooting definitely! I shoot a Carter Wise Choice 3 finger. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

    Thanks AK!

Considering how expensive they can be, I probably wouldn't be able to buy a different release for hunting and target shooting, so based on your input t I will stay away from the back tension release for now.

What made you choose a 3 finger over a 4?

It was custom made by the archery pro.
He makes his own strings for Hoyt bows.
I had a choice of colors.
I wanted plain black or do brown and he said no your getting black and red.. Lol

No problem! I tried both 3 and 4 finger and for me, I felt that I was able to anchor better with the 3 finger and it was more comfortable once was at full draw. To each his own, go try both and see what fits you best.

Definitely check out the classified section on Archery Talk. I've seen alot of good releases sell at a good price, but you have to be quick!

Yes the AT classified are very dangerous. I got my stabilizer, rest and sight on there for pennies to the dollar.
