Alright, I’m driving myself nuts trying to figure this out so please forgive me but I’m going to go into as much detail as I know because I’m trying to figure this out and can’t find much good info for 2nd gen base models.
I’ve got what I think are aftermarket wheels on(I’ll post a picture) and they’re a 6 lug pattern. Im hearing you can’t fit 285’s on stock wheels without hitting the UCA but im measuring and it’s looking pretty damn close to the point where im nervous to make the jump. Im not too worried about doing some minor trimming but I really don’t want to do any welding so my main concern I guess is hitting the control arms. To note, I’ve got a 3” RC suspension lift on. I’ve read so many articles/threads/YouTube videos and I’m still not certain. Can anyone give some advice on this? Break it down so a toddler could understand if you have to. Thanks!

    Love those wheels man.

Typically you'll have to do a CMC to truly fit 285s for offroading, etc. Although, some claim to not have any issues. Many folks will tell you they don't have any rubbing but all that means in some instances is they haven't experienced rubbing yet.

Personally I think your truck looks great as is. If you're going to do something though, do it right and do it all the way.

You'll probably need to ditch the mud flaps, trim the fender flares and beat back the pinch weld and you still might get some rubbing if you don't have adjustable upper control arms (or make some decent changes to alignment). See if you can find a tire shop that will let you test fit one front tire, those wheels look like they have quite a bit of backspacing.

Pull a wheel off. Measure the back spacing. Post the number.......then more precise help can be offered.

Just go to a Discount Tire and tell them to put 285's on. If you don't like them return them and go a different route :)

When I went up to 285's I was fine with stock wheels but my aftermarket wheels made it so I had to do some trimming and a CMC. I still rub when fully tucked though.
