I'm happy with the change although recommend getting lighter weight 285s for a long distance daily driver.

285/75/16 so worth it. This same spot I would just touch my front bumper climbing up and would rub my diff no matter what line I took, not any more.

They rode very similar to the KO2’s I was running before the Kenda’s. Great tire with better snow and wet weather traction versus the KO2. And they do look great! A good tire size for these Tacoma’s as they are very close to the same width as a 265 tire so no rubbing anywhere (no need for a CMC).

Any feel for the price difference of 33x10.50R17 compared to the common 255/80R17?

2.5” OME lift, Koenig Six Shooter wheels, 275/70r17 Nokian Outpost AT, CMC, Nitro 4.88s, Greenlane aluminum sliders, CBI aluminum skid, Greenlane aluminum front bumper, Out Gear Solutions HC rear bumper, Baja SAE fogs
I’ve tried almost everything and this is my experience:

    • 255/85r16 E-rated Cooper STMaax: Too heavy, too harsh. Felt like a backhoe.
    • 265/75r16 C-rated Cooper AT3 LT: Really nice feel, but not big enough to fill wheel wells. Pretty good in snow but I’ve experienced better. Overall a really good tire for this truck though.
    • 255/80r17 E-rated Cooper STMaax. These again, they came with some wheels I bought. Same experience but a little less floaty due to the extra 1” of wheel diameter. Fantastic on rocks and gravel. Terrible in snow.
    • 255/80r17 E-rated Toyo AT3: very narrow for size, couldn’t air down lower than 20psi on an 8” wheel. Annoying. Decent on road handling, but a bit gummy feeling. Like driving on a rock covered in bubble gum. Fantastic mud performance, I was blown away by the off road grip.
    • 265/70r17 SL-rated General Grabber ATX: a cheap stopgap I got on sale and couldn’t pass up because I was annoyed with the prior Toyos on road. Excellent feel on road, a bit less grippy than the Toyos though. MPGs not good at all. They did fine off road and fantastic in snow.
    • 285/70r17 C-rated BFG KO2s: Nothing very standout here. They sit in the middle of all the others, which isn’t a bad thing. They’re balanced in capabilities but don’t really shine in any of them. Overall they’re pretty good at everything with no standout weaknesses. I’ve wheeled hard with them with no issues aside from some lateral traction loss that almost resulted in a rollover. My fault though. The size… not worth it. Significantly more drag.
    • Today: moving to E-rated Nokian Outpost ATs in 275/70r17, which are exactly halfway between the 265s and 285s I’ve run in the past. I’ll lose 0.25” of clearance but pick up some acceleration and lower center of gravity. Hoping they’re the Goldilocks zone for my needs, which is to balance highway performance with snow and offroad capability. It’s a tough balance.

2017 TRD pro, stock suspension. 255/85/16 toyo MT, E rated. Needed to remove mud flaps and trim fender liners to reduce rubbing. Still get some rubbing under full compression. Daily driving they're alright and offroad they are great. 20210801_202418.jpg 20220821_132425.jpg
