My 285’s rubbed ever so slightly with the -12 offset wheels when they were new, but it now that I have 70k miles on the tires they don’t rub at all.:D

COOutlaw couldn't have said it better.

Recently switched from stock wheels and tires to a 2/1 lift - Bilstein 5100 all around w/ OME 887 coils, Toytec AAL in the rear & SPC UCAs. Went with the 4Runner Pro 17" Wheels wrapped in 285/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks. With proper alignment, the wheel's +4mm offset, and the aftermarket UCAs, I had very minimal rubbing at full lock. After some light work with the heat gun, that rubbing went away...for now. Granted, I haven't hit the trails yet. MPG has gone down significantly.

    My two cents:

Understand what you're getting yourself into before any mods. Research is key!

Is it worth it? Only you can answer that. For me, there are days when I miss my old mileage and a rubbing noise makes my blood boil. Other days I look at my truck and feel like a kid on Christmas with a his favorite toy.

IMG_20230329_150655805_HDR.jpg I'm running a 285 SL rating Toyo At3s on the 4runner SEMA wheels and a 2/1 lift. I recalibrated the speedometer with the hypertech in line calibration. I have the kdmax pro 9 tune and getting almost 19 round town, no power loss, no rubbing and I still have the OEM mud guards. I wish I did it from the beginning instead of 265. I did the 1/4 shim for the lean and ecgs clamshell bushing which is a benefit when doing the suspension lift.

@VaToy Were you running that setup at all before the tune/extras, and know what your MPGs were by chance? Or just know how much your wheel/tire combo weigh per corner? I've gotta get new treads soon, and trying to justify making the move to 33s, lol. Thinking about going w/ a setup of SCS F5s wrapped in Mickey T's Baja Boss A/Ts in their 285/70 R17 SL load. That combo would put me right at 70lbs.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

The tire combo weighs about 70 pounds which is pretty good. I was on 265/70s and no issues. When I had my 5100s installed I was going 285s but switched at the last minute and always regretted it. The alignment was set up to run the 285s and was told if I do change to 285s it should be good to go. Well I rubbed on the pass side mud guard when backing up on an incline. The off road shop checked my alignment, tweaked it some and all is good but prior to the alignment I adjusted the mud guard's bottom hole and was able to move it back about a 1/2 inch and I did this on both sides. So the new tires actuality ride better than the Toyo at2s and I went up to the 5th perch from the 4th and the trucks sits almost dead level with an ever so slight rake at certain angles. I'm getting almost 19 city driving sometimes but mostly it stays at 18.4 so I'm happy to say the mileage is better ever so slightly, more power than before but I chalk it up to the Pro 9 tune versus the prior tune and keep in mind my tires and the updated tune were done on the same day. The Tuner who lives a few minutes away did my calibration so the computer is correct. Sorry I totally forgot to respond back earlier. Hope this helps.

285's on my 17" SCS wheels-

-Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I opted for the lighter ply 117T which come in at 50.5 pounds and are 32.8" in outside diameter. Very light rub on driver side after removing mud flaps. I feel these are the best tires for my truck with a 2" lift.

I had the Wildpeaks in 16's on the stock wheels prior.

I'm thinking about going with a very, very similiar setup with those wheels. Are those the 17" -10 OS, and sitting around 72 lbs per corner with that combo? Driving performance remain pretty well? I have a similar lift. Glad to hear not much rubbing.

Nice looking truck, Thanks in advance

    Correct; 17" Ray 10s @ -10mm offset.
Yes I think that's a close estimate of weight. One of the reasons I went with the SCS wheels is the weight is lower than many others. Another plus is that those SCS pass the Japanese Govt vehicle safety standards- USA doesn't have any requirements. Any schmuck can design and manufacture a wheel and sell it here.
Weight is also a reason I went with the Falkens in passenger car ply rating- much lighter and responsive than the thicker/stiffer 10 ply truck model.
I was expecting a bigger difference in rotational weight feel but it was nominal going from 31s to 33s. I do have a KD Max tune though...
