Are access cab Tacomas not that popular?

lol. Incorrect on many counts. You’re making excuses for the inferiority of your TRD OR for use as an actual truck, to the point you have to have another truck!

I had my other truck first. And the trailer to haul my motorcycles and dirtbikes. But I usually use my Jeep to haul the trailer.

Nice show truck. If it weren’t jacked up so high you should easily be able to haul a couple of motorcycles in the bed. For use as an actual truck (which for typical hauls you shouldn’t even need a trailer).

People get the AC for reasons apart from the money; many many reasons. A manual tranny and certain packages are/were only available in AC. I paid more for an SR trim 4 clinder 5 speed than a 6 cylinder SR5 because i wanted the simplicity of it. I am far from alone. Everyone has different needs. I only have enough space for the one vehicle. The AC is the best compromise between practical and fun for me. YMMV.
You can load lots into these trucks if needed. I finished a house from lock up and landscaped the property with materials moved solely in this truck. 50+ yards of aggregate, 1200 sq. Ft. of solid wood flooring,800 sq.ft of tiling and thin set, 16' aluminum railings, all the interior doors. People don't need a 1 ton to move groceries.

Sweet truck. Really appreciate the newer gearing ratios in the '16 and '17 5 speeds. Unfortunately, i think they sold about 100 of those in Canada. In general the 4cyl 5 speeds are rare. I'd be curious what % of the total sales were this over the years. Probably 2%. I too pounced on mine although I've seen some linger on CL for weeks. I think a lot of people just defer to the 6 cylinder and aren't particular about the transmission.

Depends on what you need, for the use my 3rd gen gets, the double cab makes more sense. Plus, I have a 2000 AC PreRunner if I need to carry something bigger than the trunk...I mean bed on my 3rd gen can handle. Hell, anything really dirty or big gets carried in the 1st gen anyway.

If you’re out of your 20s, married, or have kids then I guess I can see why you’d buy an AC. Your life is over anyways at that point no need in looking cool while doing it

That's funny! I wouldn't buy a double cab regardless of price! Price wasn't a consideration when I bought my access cab. It's what I wanted. I didn't want a double cab. I probably would have bought a single cab if they optioned them half decently rather than a lunch box. If I need to transport people I'll get a Suburban or whatever. Not buy a double cab just to justify that I need a pickup truck when the real story is that I don't. Because let's face it. Most people that have a double cab have no need for the pickup truck at all! Otherwise they would buy an access cab or a single cab.

So you’re saying a 4 door looks better than an access cab? Just…. no, lol.

The short tail, who wore it best?

One of the first tacomas I looked at was a short bed. I said to the salesman, "no thanks, what am I supposed to do with this."
In all fairness, didn't know DCLB was a thing. Would consider.

Everyone has different needs and different wants. I went with the DCSB due to wanting extra storage inside of the truck. I don't plan on having people in the back of it so I am going to do a rear seat delete, put a molly panel up on the back wall, and a platform on the ground. That way when the weather sucks I can keep everything temperature controlled, dry, and secure.

The bed size for either the 5ft or 6ft is small. I am 5ft 10in so sleeping in the back of it wouldn't be comfortable and I would probably just end up sleeping on the ground any ways. Both sizes will hold 4x8 of plywood or sheet rock. I have been able to move 16ft 2x4 with it as well so does what I need it to. Yeah an 8ft bed would be nice but I don't want a full size truck nor do I really need one.
