Are access cab Tacomas not that popular?

Toyota's website is kinda funky and only shows what is available currently in your area, I'm pretty sure if he tries a different zip code then some will pop up.

Oh I remember those days of busted knees in that exact same truck! Only it was my grandpa. I miss those happy times tho!

My old 2018 and current 2022 are both AC OR MT. There are around a half dozen or so 3rd gens configured that way in this area (West Kootenay, BC) and most are black.

Tacomas are very popular in BC with the ski/bike/camp/hunt outdoor enthusiasts; the AC is definitely optimal for that.

Update Mar 15: did a bit of a "Drake Equation" on the unicorn. If ~5% of Tacos are Manual transmission , and 10% (?) are Access cabs, and 20% (?) are Off-Roads, that suggests only 1 in 1,000 Tacos is all three.
Some of those numbers are wild estimates and the factors may not be fully independent....but...still not a lot of us out here.

I like the look of the DC but love the functionality of the AC. I don't ride with anyone other than the wife now and again so no need
for back seats. The 6 foot bed comes in real handy.

Yeah when I ordered mine I had the option of getting a AC/MT in the sport trim, I almost considered it but having diff lock was more important......I'll always look at AC in envy. Lol

It was an access cab for me this time, probably why I got the deal I did. I had a double cab once and while it was cool, I only put people in the backseat a few times and I wished the whole time it was an access cab for the longer bed which I use all the time.

I guess I’m old school because I’ve had access cabs (xtra cabs) and 4 runners since my first cars, so I guess I just feel most comfortable in an access cab. It does feel a bit like a classic thing at this point.

The lack of a backseat is my excuse to say let’s take someone’s car and keep my truck for me.

I like my access cab . I buy my truck for me, not other people . If they can’t fit, bring their own vehicle or don’t come. Lol
Kids are grown .. got rid of the wife ..and no dogs . Access cab is perfect . Looks better and I get the 6 foot bed but still keep the short wheel base . Which is great for maneuverability and off road .
    access cab for the win!
In all reality, a tall adult isn’t going be comfortable in a double cab either . Even a short adult has their knees in the back of the seat . So I figure if it’s not comfortable anyways .. may as well be a little less comfortable and just have the access cab for all the reasons listed above . I rarely if ever need to use my back jump seats . They work in a pinch . But are tight enough that people don’t ask to ride with me. Which is fine with me. Lol

All I know its been over 3 years now, and I have not seen another 2020 sr5 quicksand access cab, only a couple older ones from the last decade.

Fo sho, I love the esthetic look of it as well. If i had a family we'd purchased a wagon/suv. For now me,wife and our dog. Plenty room camping gear plus naps.

I loved my access cab, but child seats would not fit back there, so needed to upgrade to four doors.

I see plenty of Access Cabs in my area.

Bought mine as I just wanted some extra storage space behind the front cab. Love my SR Utility with 4 cyl, 5 MT, LB. Came from a 93 Toyota DLX 4x4, RC, SB, so was a definite upgrade.

Late to the party. I’ve been in an AC since 2007. I wouldn’t drive anything else .

Good size bed, not enough room for passengers beyond the 1 (I’ve had the jump seats out for years).

Another acces cab fan here. I do wonder if we've seen the last of the access cab with the impending 4th Gen release.

I hope not! They would be my first choice if I didn’t have a family. I love the looks and think the proportions are perfect.

But I’m biased as I loved my 1992 for 14 years. So many fond memories. Love my new Tacoma just as much now.

Not in my area it seems.
I think the 1st gen had the best proportions.

Access cabs are great for tradesmen hauling tools. Mine is always stuffed with my nail guns and more delicate tools along with cold weather and rain gear. I don’t think there is enough room for an adult to sit comfortably for any period of time. I actually wish they came with no rear seats and some kind of storage options instead.

Access cab/long bed is the combo. that suits many folks needs. Kids are grown and with a platform in the access cab section the dog rides along without complaint. However, I'm coming from an '81 single cab/long bed and an '86 single cab/long bed. We used a '02 Mitsubishi Montero when the kids were young and we needed passenger space.

    Cheers
