Are access cab Tacomas not that popular?

I always wanted suicide doors since I saw my first early 60s Continental and still enjoy them on the Taco. No B Pillar has been handy on occasion.

I had a gen1 sr5 tundra that 3 of us towing an enclosed 2 place snowmobile trailer, and a sled in the bed 10 hrs to Quebec. The guy riding in the extra cab was a bit cramped so we took turns riding back there. It wasn't horrible, but it was still better than taking 2 trucks.

Access Cab models are less popular given Double Cab/Crew Cab models of pickups in general comprise over 80% of pickup sales in the US. Add in a 6MT, and the choice becomes very constrained stateside for available Tacomas.

My previous p/u trucks have all been reg cab LBs while using motorcycles for primary transportation. So when I went shopping in 2020 I wanted a LB and was trying to figure out why I ended up with a SB. I checked the Tacoma configurator and I'm pretty sure that in 2020, like the present, the only way you get a 6M is with a DCSB. To me the access cab LB is the better looking vehicle between the AC and DC. Now, a reg cab LB TRDOR, oofah!

I had a Ranger super cab for a number of years and found that the suicide doors were more of a hindrance in the parking lot than "normal" doors. PITA at the grocery store. No B-pillar was obviously good, but when trying to unload the cart behind the suicide door you are screwed. Suicide doors were better suited on my '29 Plymouth sedan.

You could say the same for standard doors. The hinge side is a no go. I just load from the front side or toss the stuff in the bed.

Double cab trucks are the station wagons of the 21st century. Five foot truck bed is perfect for trips to Costco and the mall.

GM rid the twins of any cab configuration but crew cab short bed. Typically you only see guys on forums that like the long bed or extended cab variants. Like you said 80-90% of all sales are CCSB trucks. Kinda sucks but it makes sense. If they offered the manual with a long bed I would’ve opted for that

But what I'm saying is you can have your cart in front of the front doors or behind the rear doors, if someone is parked next to you, the open doors will obstruct your access. Maybe I'm not making sense.

Kids all grown, ex has a Tesla, so the AC is PERFECT. I can haul one person, and I don't have to be the limo for everyone else. Room for all my stuff when I camp and room to sleep in the long bed. It's really the ideal configuration, and I'm glad I got one in case they eventually go away.

I get you, but I have not had that issue.

It is nice to have had the choice, and I'm still very pleased with it. Looking at the 4th Gen spy shots, it looks like the AC might have standard rear doors. We'll have to wait and see though.

    Check build thread!
Funny you say this, I just did a 3 hour drive with 4 6’0 men in the ACLB . It was far from optimal, but it was necessary as I’m the only one with a truck.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
If I can ride in the “back” of a Nissan Pulsar for 3 hours, they can squeeze into an ac.08ACA258-231D-4218-8F1E-785FE55A487B.jpg F ‘em

HA! That's what my mom had in black with silver racing stripes...

I understand that they can sqeeze in AC but I am talking about large or tall people, which they can not fit in.
