My friend needs to replace his oil cooler on his 98 tacoma 3.4, he found one online from a 98 T100. Just wondering if all 5vzfe oil coolers are the same?

There are three different part numbers for a 2004 Tacoma:
    1571062040 - Cooler
    3.4 LITER, 1996-04, 4WD, manual trans

    1571062050 - Cooler
    3.4 LITER, 1996-04, 4WD, auto trans

    1571062060 - Cooler
    3.4 LITER, 1996-04, 2WD

Looks like the 1571062050 cross references to a T100, from what I can tell the same oil cooler is used on the auto and manual T100s.

So... it depends. He needs to get the part number to make sure it crossreferences to his truck, or just roll the dice.
