I think your post is a great example of why some people have such high opinions for the bfg's vs other peoples low opinions. Living in south CA is a hell of a lot different than say New England or the midwest. I get your point but everybody has to look at the conditions they drive in before seriously evaluating their tires. For me personally, if a tire sucks in the rain and snow it's a no go, doesn't matter how long it lasts or how good it might be in any other conditions.

I dont' have a lot of tire experience, only the stock dunlops (not even worth mentioning), original Toyo AT's, Michelins and now the toyo AT2's. Are the BFG's decent? Yes, but they've been surpassed in technology now, not sure why anybody would choose them now unless you get a great deal on them.

I like BFG tires. But I love Michelin.

Michelin owns BFGoodrich; BFGoodrich is a Michelin brand tire. Very likely the reason Michelin does not have a segment devoted to more off-road oriented tires under the Michelin brand, they already have them under the BFG umbrella.

BFG is said to be releasing an update to the All-Terrain KO, the KO2, near the end of 2014.

Love my AT KO's, jack of all trades and they wear great. I also went with the old school white letters out look as well.

I used to have BFG A/Ts on my old Chevy and they were great tires, they wore well and lasted a long time.

I still love the look of the KO. I've run KO/KM on every truck/SUV for 12 or so years. Tried the Nitto TG once. Thought they sucked. The KO has great lines, does everything ok, and wears well. I do however prefer black wall. The last thing I want are letters on my truck tire drawing attention away from the truck. I've seen the revision. Looks good!

I've had the BFG AT KO's on 3 different trucks, a '92 reg cab Toyota 4X4, an '05 Taco TRD OR, and an '08 Ranger 4X4. I really like the look of them, they have nice square shoulders on them that gives the impression they're wider than some other same size tires. I think it depends alot where you live and drive whether the tires are a good choice or not. I found them to be pretty tough on gravel roads, (although they threw more rocks than any other tire I have owned), good in fresh snow, but they seemed pretty prone to hydroplaning in standing water in the wheel tracks on pavement, and they were VERY slippery on bare winter pavement when the temp was below -25C. Ice, fuggettaboutit. I switched the Ranger to Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. Much tamer looking, but as good as the BFG's in areas where the BFG's were decent, and much better on hard pack snow, icy roads, standing water and cold temps. I am running Hankook ATM's on my 2012 Taco DCLB Sport 4X4, and I think they're excellent tires in all conditions, except for sheer ice (where really only a studded ice tire is going to be effective.) Not to take anything away from you guys that love them, but I wouldn't buy another set of them, especially for what they cost these days...
