My cap is an invaluable asset/tool for my activities of choice (bird & duck hunting with my GSP's, fly-fishing, camping and general adventure/exploring the great north woods of Maine.

    Basic overland stuff...
Nothing really. I was just offered a killer deal on a trade for basically same exact truck with a locker and no leather or JBL. I came 1,900 out of pocket to buy the '17 OR and my limited had 16k miles on it.

I'm 58, guess that qualifies as old. But I've been putting shells on my trucks for over 30 years. Wouldn't have a truck without one anymore. My wife and I like to travel long distances and camp. That involves carrying lots of gear and keeping it locked up and in the dry is important.

In May we took a 4700 mile 2 week trip from GA to the Grand Canyon then up through Utah into Bryce, Zion, and Kodachrome Canyons. Having the shell on the back was invaluable. It does somewhat limit carrying larger items in the bed, but I have a 5'X10' trailer that works better for that anyway. I've always felt the bed covers that were level with the top of the bed were a waste of time and money.

For the larger boat I don't. I kind of free built it and in all honesty it didn't go well, pretty much a useless boat without an outrigger. For the smaller boat I adapted the (now defunct) Roll-or-Drown open source Point Bennett west Greenland style boat down to a ten footer and clipped the bow and stern some. I drew the hull panels out in AutoCAD and printed them full scale. Once those 4 panels were together I winged it for the rest of the build.

Thanks, forty2! Very creative and nice workmanship. Never have seen anything like it... I'm into outriggers, so that one caught my attention. Bookmarked and will be coming back to it. Thanks again for taking the time to post your build info.

I like the look! I debated over getting the body side moldings in black for my Sky silver DCLB (I got body color). By seeing yours I wish I would have gotten black. Nice truck.
