I don't like shells personally. I think an Econoline van would be a better vehicle for you people that want to keep your stuff secure.

She doesnt mind it now. I think it all depends on how you have your truck.

With the right mods, you can make anything look good.

So we just purchased a Qucksand 2017 Tacoma SRD sport Double Cab short bed. We have a popup camper that we have been pulling with our old tacoma. That tacoma has a rugged cover 3 section hard cover for the bed.

I found that when camping that tall coolers (like a Yeti) don't fit with the hard shell down and often I needed more room than the short bed could handle with the bed cover (that sits flush with the top of the bed).

So I am trying to convince her that a ARE Z series camper shell would be helpful to us as well as look nice on the truck.

She is worried that it will make the truck look like an old guys truck (no offence to old guys whoever that is...)

If anyone has a 2016 Quicksand tacoma or any color tacoma with a z series on it we would love to see a picture of it...and any comments for or against getting a camper shell for our soon to be delivered 2017 SRD Sport sound off in the comments.

Tell your wife the MX top is practical, especially if you store gear or sleep on a platform inside it. I got tired of a standard shell in my 1st gen (as seen on my avatar) as with the platform, your face touches the ceiling. I made a custom laser cut Prinsu style rack on top of the MX shell ro match my Cabrak.

I’m 50 something though... what can I say, she may be right
