Looking at canopies for my 2012 shortbox doublecab up here in Canada. I don't have a ton of money to spend so these two are what I am choosing between. The leer with the single handlthe in back was also an option but is about 2000$ installed. The range rider is about 1700 installed and the ARE is about 1850$. The range and ARE look pretty similar to me. The one I want needs sliding side windows and a single handle on the rear window rather than two handles, and the front window slider would be nice. Any opinions or advice? Any benefits with one over the other?

I just bought a '14 TRD DC OR SB and am looking for a canopy. Did you finally find the right canopy for your truck? What did you decide on?

Wow, someone finally replied. I did get one but it was shitty quality and the install sucked. I went with the range rider to save 200 $ but wished after I would have spent the extra or went with a different brand. Cauling hanging off the outer frame, inner window aluminum bent with every screw crooked, scratches in the paintafter install, etc. Spend extra for the ARE, or whatever and go to a shop that you can trust. The one I used had idiots doing the installs.

Ya, I noticed that too. Not sure why peeps don't want to share info on their canopies. :(

I appreciate your response. Although it sucks that you had such a bad experience. Thanks for sharing. :)

I think I'm between ARE and Leer. One installer I was referred to (that has a good rep) carries Range Rider and ARE. Canopies West, the installer recommended ARE CX...he said it has the best fit with the Taco cab. I also see alot of Leer canopies on Tacos. There's another installer that I was referred to, I need to check them out...not sure what they carry.

Thanks again for the response :)

I forgot to mention it was canopy west that I went with and I would strongly avoid and not reccommend. I was told about hour to hour and a half, 4 hours waiting later they said they were having trouble installing the tailgate locking handle that I was told would take about 10 minutes to install. They took some money off the bill and agreed to fix the scratches on my fender paint from the genius that was wiring power from the battery that didn't care to cover the fender. Stripped screw where they tried to fasten the harness, left my tailgate plastic loose, and never called to fix the paint they scratched. I guess they get enough business so they don't care enough to take pride in their workmanship, or hire people that do. When you are paying 1800 to have a piece of fiberglass installed it should be done right , and with no additional damage to your truck. If you are set on the ARE I would order it, and buy the 4 clamps for 80$ and install it yourself, then so the wiring at hone.

    Ackkk, good to know.

Hopefully, different Canopy West franchises may do better workmanship but I'm going to bring your situation up with them. I'm also really looking at Leer, so I'd be going with Canopy World for that. I really appreciate your input.
    Thanks
