Are door panels swappable from 01-04 to a 2000 model Tacoma

Interested in knowing if anyone has first hand experience with swapping a fully molded door panel (I believe 01 to 04 models) in place of the rather unimpressive flimsy 2 piece cardboard affair that was used on model years 95 thru 2000? Anyone?

I would imagine they would have left the punched metal door frame alone,but you never know if some upstart engineer came along and changed it around a bit. Who knows......

Actual first hand knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

 

I did this on my 99. The panels are a direct swap, keep in mind the following:

01-04 uses a different size speaker
different window switch trim and window switches
has a tweeter in the door panel
doesn't have the red courtesy light

 

Yes the tweeter mounts to the door panel itself. If you don't want a tweeter then you don't have to hook it up. I mounted some aftermarket tweeters in its place.

Hello Taco world, can anyone tell me if i can hook up the master window switch and passenger switch from a 99 to 2003 master switches. Im switching door panels and noticed that the panel differs a lil.

 

If you are putting 01-04 panels in your 95-00, then you have to use the 01-04 switches. I believe the wiring connectors are different as well.

 

so basically needing the whole wire harness?

 

or doing a lil splicing of wires and hope it works.

 

You can re-pin the connectors, but you will need the connector for the 01-04 switch.
I put 01-04 4 Door master switches in my 99 2 door. I bought the switches on ebay with the pigtail attached to the connector. I just de-pinned the 01-04 connector and re-pinned with the matching wires from my stock connector.

 

not quite electrically smart enough to do that on my own. lol

 

I see on ebay that they sell the actual 2 door master with bezel but no pig tail.
