Are Gen 3 Tacomas as unreliable as Tacomaworld makes them seem?

Nah, the sound doesn't bother me, as I know it's normal. The inability for the system to move past any resistance at the tires is the issue. I understand I may not ever need it or use it, but it would be nice to have a fully working brand new $40,000+ vehicle.

Yeah, it's an unnerving experience the first time you use it. Thought it was going to shake the truck apart.

Oh that! That's normal too. It needs about 3-4k rpms before it'll start crawling over anything the size of a pebble. 4lo and dump the clutch if you want to get up on the curb.

I really hope it's obvious I'm kidding, some people say these things and they're being completely serious so it can be hard to tell. Hope Toyota fixed your truck for you!

As others have stated , your going to read mad problems with a lot of vehicles in forums and Facebook pages. Silveraydos , f150s, ram (vomit) new rangers, Tundras (terrible mpg) and yes Tacoma’s. I have the base model SR 4x4 4 cyilindrr and wanted a new truck but I also wanted as simple and bare bones as I could get it so that left me with frontiers and Tacoma’s. Tacos have a million times better resale than frontiers do in the unfortunate event if I had to ever bail out. The only real issue I have is the way the transmission shifts while towing in cruise control. I mean it’s simply awful. But what I haven’t experienced is any real trans shifting issues empty. I’m able to easily go 80mph on cruise and the little 4 banger and 6 speed auto is like 2 little happy peas in a pod. The only new vehicle manufacturers I’d consider is ford and Toyota. So maybe consider checking into rangers if you want, they’re much better on PAPER compared to a taco but only time will tell just how reliable they are. I enjoy my taco.

TW is an echo chamber and fish bowl for this shit... The more you read the more you'll find... its like diagnosing yourself using Web MD.... I have a 17 TRD OR DC LB LOL and the chips are stacked against me... hahahah Am i expecting my paint to flake off while i'm diving? nah... vibrations from unbalanced drive shafts? lol ive got one being rebuilt from getting thrashed on the trail.... ef outta here with "vibrations" lol..... rear diff "sweating"... is it leaking on to the driveway?

Everyone has a comfort level.... if you buy a truck expecting it to be build like a Cadillac or a Mercedes, you're going to be disappointed... "But i spent XX,XXX dollars it SHOULD....." this is the world we live in....

Someone on here has a signature that reads "If you want to enjoy your truck, stay off TW".... that goes for everyone with any vehicle..

Honestly most people just whine and complain too much about little things. All I know is I payed 40k for my 2016 Manual off-road and I've now put 150k miles on it and I haven't had a single issue and not one tsb had applied to me. My tacoma does everything is was advertised to do and SO MUCH MORE. I love this damn pickup and I would have payed 60k if I had to. And I'm super happy i opted for 0 warranty coverage when I bought it other than the manufacturers warranty, I honestly wouldn't feel that comfortable with any other vehicle.

Lol you misspelled can with cab. And you need to drop the "ly" off of completely.
I'm just teasing but it was kind of funny because of what you posted lol.

Haha, I was half asleep writing that, but it’s kind of fitting since the majority of us have issues with typing English ;)

Lol that is very true. With typing on a phone its pretty easy to spell wrong and not even notice because we're so used to it now.

I like the people who complain about them being slow I mean it’s not a drag race superstar but so far it’s had more than enough power for me so I dunno

I have owned my truck for three years now. It is a 17 OR and I have 94,000 miles. I did have that diff noise when the truck was driving around 45 mph. I have not heard that noise in about a year now. I check the diff and I do not have any leaks other than that the truck is fine. I do a lot of highway driving and the best thing I like about the truck is the gas mileage. This truck presents you with a different driving experience that you need to get use to. The shifting of the truck is what makes some people uncomfortable. You have to really press on the gas petal to really get her going. Once you do she flat out flys. I had a gen2 sport which was the best truck I ever owned. I put 250,000 miles on it and had no problems. Comparing the two trucks I would say I like the tech features better in the gen3 than the gen2 but I like the performance of the gen2 better than the gen3. I plan to hold on to my 17 for another 18 months and then I plan on buying the tundra with hybrid technology. I could use some more room.

OP you also have to think about how many people have Tacomas and don't go on TW. Not only them, but also the people who do have accounts and just lurk, never posting a thing.

Also consider today's consumerist society. Everyone just expects a product to be cheap and work perfectly. If that is the case the average consumer is merely content, nothing more. If the product has even a slight problem, whether it's a vehicle or not, consumers complain and get so angry you'd think that the manufacturer spit on the consumer's children.

I had a 2016, which is supposedly the least reliable 3rd get and had none of these issues. YMMV.
