50/50 chance that by then, he would have sold it for something else

And we would have saved ourselves another angry thread about the truck "hunting for gears"

Got a 2016 Sport with 126k on the clock right now. Only "repair" i've done is belt tensioner and idler pulleys. Other wise its been normal maintenance.

When did you have those issues?

I'm at 107k now and havent had those issues yet, should I be expecting them soon? I stay the hell away from mud...

Haven’t had any of the other issues, but the paint is definitely garbage. I have a Cement 2020 and within 2 weeks I had a rock chip at the very top of the hood about pea size and several small ones in other places; one on the drivers side rear door, driver rear bumper cover, passenger bumper on the flat part below the headlight, and one about halfway up the hood.

At the time I had only driven it to work on the I15 in Utah. I finally had to stop worrying about it so much. It is a little ridiculous how easy it is to chip on the highway, I could understand gravel roads.

At 100k. Started getting a really bad rattling noise while at full lock or taking off. Narrowed it down to belt tensioner and idler pulleys.

This made me LoL. Not wrong, just funny to hear it from someone else.

There are almost a million 3rd gens on the road about 100 people who report the issues you mention on a website dedicated to the truck.

    It's a nothing burger. Enjoy

The 2018 have an issue (recall) with the low pressure fuel pump. Been waiting 6 months for a repair. All Toyota did was make us aware that when it stalls when your doing 65 it might be dangerous and to standby they are working on a fix. Bunch a jackwagons. But nothing to do but drive it.

I did a poll once to discredit this exact crap. It was 90% no issues. 5% a few issues and 5% lots of issues. This is the internet, not real life. Get it, enjoy it or not. I challenge you to get those numbers on a BMW forum. Good luck.

All the guys that have never owned one would make you think it was. I'm on my 3rd taco and second 3rd gen. No real issues with any of them.

I’ll damn near guarantee that a 3g Tacoma will be more reliable than any BMW or VW built in the last 20 years.

The guys that complain about the minor issues that happen to the taco would lose their minds if they had a brand new Mercedes.

Imo this happens with ANY enthusiast vehicle and ANY active forum that supports said vehicle. Someone always has something to complain about and with large community and active forum you tend to gather all these little bugs and quirks into one spot and when you're outside looking in, it looks like a disaster.

For what it's worth, I've got 12k on a trd or and been offroading this thing since new. It's yet to do any of those things and IMO people complaining about shift points (always comes up) need to set their expectations better. It's a v6 naturally aspirated truck, with gears more suited to fuel mileage and peak torque at 4k. Just on paper I knew I would have to rev this thing out before I even drove it.

I've only got 12k on it, so my opinion isn't based on a ton of experience but so far so good, and I'm fully expecting to run this thing to the ground. Or if Toyota comes out with some new real cool stuff.

Exactly what everyone else has posted, there are many more Toyota owners who never post on the internet so all you see are enthusiasts posting things that most people never even know about. .

There is a reason you could sell an 11 year old tacoma with 150,000+ miles and get 1/4 of what you paid for it back and even more if you sold it yourself private party...

Yeah but the car magazines insist that BMW and VW (and McClaren and Ferrari and Porsche and Tesla) are the only cars we should want.

Bull bar with lights, Wheels on stock tires, window vents.
I have a 2017 TRD Off Road with 46k on it and the only issue I had was a rusting roof due to rock chips and what Toyota said was bird shit but they covered half of it so not to much to complain about.
