jesus christ that pic is what i'm talking about lol:eek:

if you passed that truck on a dark road you would literally blind someone for a few seconds effectively taking their eyes off of the road ahead of them thats why they are not safe and are illegal in nj at least.

You're almost reaffirming what I said, which was HID lows aren't going to do much more than a normal halogen high beam would, which your picture shows, and actually shows the high beam is still more effective for what the high beam is intended to do for night visibility. If my high beams DIDN'T light up that fence in the rear I'd be returning the vehicle for lights that don't function properly. The high beam is supposed to throw light further than the low beam, which is seen in the picture. If you had a vehicle which utilized separate bulbs for lows and highs and had HID's in the highs too(which would be stupid) the fence would still be lit up. The HID's aren't more concentrated. You're just comparing the normal functionality between the low and high beam which isn't just brightest of the light output.

Offroad they're great (HID's) on the street they suck & should be illegal& if they are illegal it should be enforced, you can say "They're ok if set up right." all day long but wont matter because theres too many DB's that wont "set up right" & just think its cool to blast the night with fucked up scattered light...just my $.02

Your stock HID's are by far the best quality HID set-ups out there. The poster did say, a good quality HID set-up. Just cause it's an expensive car and an engineering marvel, doesn't mean they spent a lot of time on the headlights.

well silverstar ultras come to mind right off the bat i actually put a set in my truck before i did my first retrofit. they actually did make an improvement over the stock bulb.

stay away from the bulbs that have the blue coatings most all of them are complete crap.

if you can find a reputable place try clearcorners.com you can purchase infared reflecting bulbs. just watch what wattage you pick stay with in the factory numbers and they will produce a fairly large improvement over stock bulbs.

some will say things about ir bulbs but, i have had experience with them and they have worked nicely for me.

    Yep.
hids are meant to be used with projectors or at very least shrouds around the bulbs, it does not matter how much you try to aim them

Everytime I see some stupid ass that just threw a hid kit in their housings I turn on every light (brights, fogs, (4) 7" Hids), just to let them know how it feels.
