That was the stupidest shit I ever heard of. I would be embarrassed just knowing that shit hit the news if that was ever me suing.

The next stupidest one was of the person who got kicked out of Red Lobster for eating too much of the shrimp during the All-you-can-eat-shrimp deal they had going on.

Guess who won that lawsuit in a heartbeat?

Dam.. Someone's family. Sucks. However, if I am driving and all of a sudden i'm being submerged in water the last thing on my mind is to make a phone call. More like GTFO! anyway possible.

I can't really see myself ever in that position, but that's why manual windows are a good idea

At the end of the day, everything you do revolves around your very own choices you make, I agree, if someone wants to do something or consume something that it is bad for them. Let them do it for god's sake!

The entire nation has become dependent on the government handout's, it's pretty sad actually, and the truth of the matter is that we have nobody to blame but our own selves for allowing it to happen. :/

Despite the common perception of that case, the argument could be made that it was a legitimate claim, particuarly since she initially wanted only medical expenses covered (and ultimately settled for less than $600K). They served coffee that was near 200F in flimsy cups and had previously settled hundreds of similar claims.

I could understand that, but this sort of stuff is common sense.. Have you ever been through or to the backroads of America, or even out to the mountains for camping and similar things? No signs to be found anywhere for the dangers that exist all around you!

Common sense is assumed there and yet so many people get by with using it. Urbanized people have become so nurtured that they have lost the very thing they were born with. I had no idea common sense was a perishable trait/skill.

Nature vs. nurture, nature always wins :p

Their own quality assurance manager testified they served coffee far hotter than necessary, in flimsy styrofoam cups with poor lids, at a temperature that would cause third degree burns in 2-3 seconds. It can be argued that McDonald's displayed no common sense in serving such a hot liquid in a poor container.

Now I'm not saying the woman wasn't at fault, and in fact the jury did find her partially to blame, but I think there's a difference between having common sense and having an unjustifiable risk placed upon you. She wasn't driving, the car wasn't in motion, it's not like she was a distracted driver.

The case isn't as frivolous as it is often portrayed.

That makes sense, however, looking at it from face value, the actual idea of the whole thing sounds just silly. :p

The one thing I remember from that whole thing is that McDonald's was using pressurized vessels to brew coffee. This was to use steam to extract every last bit of coffee out of the beans. So, this was more than just normal hot coffee, it would have been very near boiling when first poured.

Yes, the lady shouldn't have spilled the coffee in her lap, but McDonald's made her injuries far worse than they should have been by superheating the liquid.

Somewhere there's a news article about some lady's battery going dead and getting locked in her car. The officer who responded to her 911 call directed her to the MANUAL lock button inside the car, and she unlocked the door, with his instructions.

Yes, the gene pool IS polluted.:)
