Honestly I’m not really a fan of yellow, or off-color lights. Years ago I ran yellow fog lights on the front of my T100. The few times I drove in fog or foul weather I never really noticed much difference between the clear driving lights I replaced them with

But couldn't you replace your fogs with amber/yellow, turn your headlights off and leave the fogs on while driving in the snow? Assuming you're not driving at high speeds of course.

Bxbuilt just came out with a bi led projector retrofit if you are into that. LEDs are built into the projector so you never worry about changing the bulbs. Just installed on mine and it’s awesome.

Yeah, and I have yellow fogs too - those don't throw nearly as far though, especially when you want as much stopping distance as you can get, in the snow, you want that throw.

Not that it would be wrong, in all I'd say I drive about 5 hours in the snow a year anyway, so it wouldn't be the end of the world to have white light during that. It's just nice and I'm a tad bid insane :D

Yeah, that's why I mentioned speed. They don't go very far, so if you're on a main highway it could cause some issues, lol.

OEM HID headlights are in housings DESIGNED for them, not just slapped into halogen housings.

Not actually yellow, but that’s the color they appear when placed next to a quality white LED light.

I don't believe yellow makes a difference in fog - regarding penetration (giggity) or reflection. Snow? Absolutely. But fog is a myth.

So you're saying the benefits of yellow/amber lights in the fog is a myth, yet in the snow they absolutely make a difference?? You do realize the reason yellow/amber lights help with visibility and eye fatigue in the snow are the same with fog. It all has to do with the glare and reflections with the wavelengths of light off the snow and fog.

I love my OEM LED headlights. Don't settle, you'll regret it.

I'm all for LED technology and think the OEM LEDs look ok. My main gripe is all the chrome in them since Toyota went with LED reflectors. These would have been better looking if they were LED projectors.

I totally get what you are saying, it’s been picked up and put away. It was there for a brief moment while I grabbed some spare wire out of a bin to test the headlights.

Any chance you can take a close up picture of the headlight so I can see where the chrome is inside of it? I've spent a fair amount of $$ on getting rid of chrome on my Taco, I don't want to spend $1500 to keep some. Also don't want the TRD Pro versions because, well, I don't have a Pro.

Thank you, exactly what I was looking to see. Looks like the chrome ring around the housing, not so much on the sides by the turn signals. I wouldn't be opposed to the Pro versions if the TRD PRO didn't light up.

Snow on the ground is significantly more dense than fog floating around. It makes sense that there would be a noticeable difference at that point. Fog lights work because they're lower to the ground, not because of the color in the visible spectrum. What you may be experiencing with the yellow/amber lights is less output from the filters themselves, making it appear to not be quite as bad.
