Are manual vs automatic usually priced cheaper?

Looking to make my first truck purchase and have been sifting around locally. I have noticed this truck up for quite some time. Clean title, and a decent amount of the options listed at a much lower price than others. I am going to go check it out today just curious on if the manual Ian what is keeping price lower than others in the area. Thanks for the quick replies. Just stuck in a rock and a hard spot with current market. Deciding on if waiting is work it and risk “market adjustments” I see dealers tagging on to new arrivals. And with the factories shutting down boosting the prices even more or just pulling the trigger. 40.5k is already stretching what I imagined spending was hoping for 37.5 area. Afraid if I wait for a new one at dealership to come in it will be well above my price range. Should have just bought it when I saw them sitting at 33k 6 months ago. Bummer!

 

You lose nothing by waiting. As far as I can tell plenty of dealers are willing to sell at sticker still. Manuals are hard to come by though … 1:10 is manual or less

 

Manuals are becoming scarcer than hens teeth around here. Hard to believe someone would even want a manual these days unless buying a sports/muscle car.

 

I spoke with my local dealer a couple of days ago, and he seemed more than happy to order me the truck I want and sell it to me below MSRP with my supplier discount through work.
I am waiting a year or so to see what happens with the Ford Bronco I reserved over a year ago, and let my kid start real school so I can stop paying for daycare, and then I intend to order a new TRD Off-Road with a manual transmission.
But I recently learned that you can no longer get a manual in the SR, SR5, or Limited trim, only the TRD Off-Road, Sport, and Pro, and only in the 4 door short bed with Off-Road and Pro.
I bought a 2017 2.7/5 speed/4x4 in October of 2016, but sold it last year when worried about making payments while laid off for covid shutdowns.
Now I have stable employment and better pay, and I'm ready for another new truck. And I don't buy automatics.

 

Some of us will only drive manual as long as it’s available. I hate slushbox.

That is the future of car buying IMO. More and more dealers are going to take that approach and keep very few new vehicles in inventory. It saves them money, allows them to sell to you cheaper and means more profit for them. They won't need huge lots capable of holding several hundred vehicles.

I like a well executed manual. The problem is that the manuals being used in todays "trucks" are sports car transmissions mated to sports car engines. The gearing is all wrong for a truck and the high engine rpm's needed to get any power in today's engines are all wrong for a manual. If you're buying a truck to tow or haul any weight, or drive off road, todays manuals are a huge disadvantage. If you want zip around and pretend you're in a sports car, just buy a sports car.

 

Yeah 2017 was the last time you could get a 4 banger MT in the SR, it's strictly the 6 cylinder TRD line since then.

 

My manual taco is amazing off road, not sure what you are talking about. Also it tows just fine, I wouldn’t tow more than 4.5k though. I live in a very hilly region and taking off on red lights on hills is not fun.

I mean if you bought a Tacoma primarily as a towing vehicle, you got the wrong vehicle. I love my manual taco, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else for as long as I can.

 

I agree mostly. The manual has a lower gear ratio than the auto and with no overheating issues. I tow often and like the manual for it and a little extra fun in the corners.
