I have E series General Grabbers and they are heavy AF! My MPG and power took a sizeable hit.
I may have to hock these and buy new ones,,, large oversight on my part.

That’s another thing I was worried about with the E.

Any noticeable difference with the E, mileage acceleration?

Need to replace the stock tires on my 2016 TRD OR. I don't do any off-roading, but I do like the look of a more aggressive tread (used to have BFG AT T/A on my previous 2005 Tacoma). Thinking of going with the 265/70/R16 Toyo AT3. I see this size is only available in an SL load rating. What does SL actually mean compared to C, E, etc? Am I safe to assume that's fine for an occasional (once or twice a year) tow/haul or gravel/dirt road? I do have a bad habit of brushing up against a curb from time to time. Is sidewall strength a factor with any of these load ratings?

E rated tires being much heavier also kill your fuel economy.

C's are basically standard load tires. Many many run them with all terrains. C's or SL tires look wimpier and usually have more of a sidewall curve.

Most SL all terrains have about 13-14/32nd, where as most E rated have 16/32nd tread.

I like the insurance of my E's so I can slam along back roads with no worry. I obliterated my Cooper AT3 4S's on the backroads. SL was a poor choice for hard runs.

I'm currently running SL rated Cooper Rugged Trek's and I wish I had just gotten the E rated tires. I was hoping to find some D rated tires out there, but options seem very limited these days. I ran E rated BFG KO2's on my 2001 Tundra, and they were very stiff offroad. I do think that once we load our rigs down with racks, tents, and camping gear, we usually need something good and sturdy as an E rated tire.

I’m not sure how much it was, as I put the bed topper and Decked system in about the same time, but overall I’m now averaging 15-16 (50/50). In sure it was mostly tires, as acceleration went straight poo poo.

I recently put new wheels and tires on my Tacoma and 4Runner. I did not go with E on either (both were also available in E).

Tacoma: 265/75/16 Mickey Thompson Boss AT, B
    4Runner: 265/70/17 Toyo Open Country AT, C

    FYI: Tacoma mpg is -2, 4Runner -1

    I had E range BFG a/t's & m/t's on my manual 21 TRD OR.
I have C range duratracs on my auto 23 TRd Pro.
The 23 pro gets 2-3mpg better and rides much better (could be suspension related).
All above mentioned tires were/are 265/75/16.
I'll be going with C range tires again, when needed.

    All depends on your usage.

I go to remote places and through rough terrain quite often so E load is the only rating I feel comfortable with.
