I run Mickey Thompson baja boss wheels in load E but also had the westcott lift but I would always hear hard knocks over speed bumps so I just changed the whole suspension

I prefer the durability and off road performance of an E rated tire. I'm running Toyo Open County M/T's cyped on my Tacoma and just put a set of KO2's on the Rav4 and have no complaints about either. The Rav4 took about a 3 mpg hit but I'm ok with that since my main concern was snow performance and holding up while bombing gravel roads. The Rav started out as the wife's daily driver but its so damn fun to drive and performes so well off road it's become the rally beast and my main transport to the slopes.

Ran C range on the Wrangler and did some pretty hard off-roading on rocks, rock steps etc, running same on the Tacoma now too. Don't see a need for E unless it's size related.

Yes the KO2's are E Rated. I was hesitant when I bought them but the guy at Discount Tire assured me I could return them within 60 days if i wasn't satisfied.
The day after I bought them I made my annual road trip to Las Vegas for the Mint 400 Race which is approximately 2000 miles round trip not including off road exploring along the way and on the return trip and I figured this would be the perfect test not only for the tires but the Rav4 as well.
Hit snow when I got to Willamette pass and the roads were snow covered almost all the way to Reno. They performed flawlessly even at constant speeds of 60+ mph on the snow. Desert exploring was a blast and again the KO2's did great in the sand and rocky terrain that is Nevada.
There was a noticeable decrease in oomph off line at first but it's something I don't even notice anymore. MPG's are down for sure but I don't really pay much attention to the numbers. If I was concerned about MPG's I wouldn't own a Tacoma on 33's let alone a 2nd gen Tundra. Maybe I'm crazy but I'm liking the KO2's on the Rav4 and they seem to do great getting around town on dry and wet pavement as well. I really have no complaints.

I think the ko2s are some of the best AT tires. For their capability they are very quiet. They did awesome at high speed dessert running and are very good in the snow. I switched to the duratracs because they are available in c load. The compliance over bumps was way better. When aired down they flex better and are more comfortable at slow speed rocky trails here in CO. The e rated ko2s really diminished the ride quality and took away from my upgraded suspension. Duratracs also are very good in the snow, rain and mud, much better than the ko2s. If I could find ko2s in c rated I would run those because they are so quiet and have excellent road manners for a AT. Was the c rated ko2s an option for your rav 4? I would think e rated would be overkill considering it’s only a 3,500 pound vehicle.

That trail looks sweet. The fact that you get to off-road to a mountain bike spot makes it even better! Shred on!

I know they make them in 265/70/17. A lot more c load options on 17 inch rims. I like my 16 inch rims though.

My goto tires are toyo atlll or Toyo RT in E rating both have med soft sidewalls, both are quiet, both have tri peak rating as I’m 4 hrs from snow. Never really liked C or SL rated tires as both are only 3 ply vs E at 10 ply less flats, less worry off-road

I’m still under 100 lbs at each corner. 80 lb tires & 16.75 lb per wheel vs 50 lb C rated and most of you guys running cast or fuel wheels at 20 to 40 lbs. I’m not losing much in rotational mass.

THIS. Ive had 2 sets of KO2s and AT2s, all e-rated. When I switch tires out only 23 trdor from those general wranglers, I'll prob go C. But going from worn 40k e rated 285 K02s was nuts. I feel my taco is entirely too soft but I'm realizing it's prob the tires not the stock trdor bilstiens.....

I'll check in the morning but I may trade them in if mine are in fact E rated. You would think the guy at Discount Tire would have set me up with the C rated version considering.

Interesting to see my own learning experience expressed by many here.

I've had my DuraTrac LT245/75R16 120/116E installed for a couple weeks now. The ride quality was noticeably stiffer and harsher but also felt like I had better steering response due to less sidewall roll.

    IMG_20230226_095115.jpg

I've been on lots of FSRs in forestry areas on Vancouver Island. The roads are often made of blasted rock and usually crazy sharp and pointy. My previous stock tires has a lot more give/squish, but I was always in full pucker when driving over that stuff, even aired down.

On airing down, the stock tires were extremely mushy down past 20 psi and on a cross slope it felt like I was going to roll right off the rim. With the E DuraTracs I almost *need* to drop the pressure to 15 psi so I don't hit my head on the roof or bottom the suspension even on smallish bumps and potholes. They still feel quite stiff and manageable even at this lower pressure. I'm on stock rims so I haven't explored lower pressures than this yet.

If there was a big difference in fuel economy, I didn't notice. Everyone complains about this with just about every vehicle that isn't a subcompact hybrid. I came to the Tacoma from a full sized high roof Euro Van and by comparison this truck SIPS fuel and gets me much farther off the paved path.

The DuraTracs aren't as obnoxiously loud as I feared an aggressive tire like this might be. Yes, there's more noise but it just reminds me I'm driving a very capable 4x4 that needs a good set of rubber to maximize that performance. Turn up the music if it bothers you.
