Yes, it adds up. But you can pace yourself, take care of one end at a time.

Seems the rears are easier and a bigger safety issue, especially if you are hauling boat behind you and you have a cap. The springs come with bushings, and you need to buy some more U bolts, and then likely the Billies for the rear, which are cheaper than the fronts. Then you could attack the front end six months from now. Even if you get the 5-leaf, the cap and your trailer towing should bring them down a bit.

And remember another timing issue, the discount will exprire on the leafs, but the OME stuff is not discounted...

This is kind of driving me nuts (not you specifically, but the group buy in general), because people are hesitating, and if we got committment and more people, we can reach 15% off rather than only 10% Lots of people agonize about the cost, but won't take the action necessary to help bring it down. Please, again, don't take this personally, and we all have our own financial issues to deal with. I respect that.

You can always call Dan at Wheeler's to get recommendations for your specific needs...they are very motivated to help us all figure this out.

Weird question - but does anyone have a picture of good set of leaf springs (not brand new, but something that does not have to be replaced)?
My leafs are not concaved down yet from what I notice, but I would just like something else to compare it to. Maybe I'll have to jump on this group buy after all.

My spring are still good. There not smiling a hole lot if any. they may even be straight. I can try and get a pic later today if you want. I do have a AAL.

Yeah, I think the point is to compare with totally stock springs.

The AAL introduces a modification factor that hinders an accurate comparison with stock spring lameness. So to say your stock springs are "still good" sort of bypasses the point that they aren't actually stock.

Not trying to be a pain or a smartass, and appreciate your desire to pitch in, but I think alot of us bought used trucks with many miles on them, and don't know what it was like new, look-wise or ride-wise, which makes it tough to evaluate the situation, especially when worn out shocks are probably a factor, too.

One of the other posters installed an AAL at some time in the past, but now that is shot, so he's going after a new pack.

Here is a pic of Tacomaman06's New 5 leaf pack. I know they aren't stock but this is how the arch should look.

The ideal picture would be stock, or stock replacements, if possible...
I bought my truck with 61k miles, and there's only about 63k on it currently. But, I'm starting to realize little things that makes me believe the last owner worked a lot with it. So dead leafs on a 2004 is a possibility, but I just want to make sure before I spend ~ $400

Im not sure why anyone would get the stock replacements from the dealer when they are like $800.
I am curious to see what they look like though.

they don't necessarily have to be from the dealer. a 4 leaf setup from wheelers would be cool.

Is $100 a good deal for Billie 5100 Rear shocks with 12k miles on them, shipped?

I don't have a picture, but do have the exact same truck as you with 65000 miles on it, and my springs are dead, they frown, not smile. So it is a very real possibility to have an 04 with dead springs.

It is most definitely possible to have an '04 with dead springs. The springs were weak when I bought it and after only a few loads (stacked to the bed rails) and by few I mean maybe... 5 loads, of firewood, they are going the other way. New springs = Happy Truck :D
