Are New OME Top Hats Needed for 2" Heavy Kit?

I have dirt king uppers (ball joint UCAs) on the way and will be ordering the OME Heavy Load Kit (OMEKIT-005) and was wondering about the top hats. It doesn't appear the top hats come in the kit but OME sells a pair of top hats separately (OMETH002).

• Those of you with an OME lift: did you just reuse the stock top hats on the fresh install?
• I'm wondering why OMETH002 isn't included in the OMEKIT-005 if they are needed

Those of you running OME lifts (or vendors/installers w/ OME experience): what did you use for top hats? Thanks in advance for the assistance. m_s

 

I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's just like every other coilover: order tophats if you don't feel like disassembling your current shocks. It's convenient if you want someone else to compress your coils but want to do everything else yourself.

I am surprised to see the bushings come with the tophat and not the shock. That's kind of weird. I would think that new shocks need new bushings.
