Its interesting they don't list the 882s anymore, wonder if they are just out of stock or if they aren't offered as an option now

883s being a heavier spring rating will be super stiff without any added weight up front. You could put a spacer on the 881s but I wouldn't do more than a 1/4" one or so for leveling it out if that's what you're after, but that's pretty common for people to do.

I was thinking the same thing, but just assumed I was remembering incorrectly because I'm dumb and old... lol

    Yeah, this.

I would not get the spacers at first, and install everything, let the springs break in, etc... then, if the front still sits little lower, then get 1/4" spacers (1/4" spacer = 1/2" worth of lift).

They are supposed to (from the factory), actually.

It's so your truck doesn't look like a dog scooting on the carpet when you're carrying heavier loads in the bed.

As for "what if" you need a whole inch, I doubt that'll happen. Might seem like it at first, but the springs settle.

When I had 881s and 5100s, I wanted more front lift because I barely got 1.5" from the 881s. I ended up having my 5100s adjusted to the 1st notch which brought it up another .5 to 1", I can't really remember...was a few years ago now.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the way spacers on coilovers work, is that a 1/2" spacer will give you 1" of lift. So if you went the spacer route you would only need a 1/2" one on both sides up front...unless I'm mistaken about that.

Wheelers has the 882 spring in stock, what's the difference between the 881 and 882?

882 is same spring rating as 881 but taller, so you'll get more lift out of the 882.

IIRC the 882s are meant to give you about the same ride height as the 883s (~2.5") but for trucks that don't have a heavier front end and don't need the extra spring rating capacity

Just got my set up ordered. 882 coils, Dakar spring pack (Dakar AAL included but not installed), for $1,132.

Pretty common to remove one of the dakar leafs for better ride quality and sit a little lower. Thinks its the 3rd leaf. Get the dakar. AAL rides like shit period.

One question, will the 882s create issues contacting the stock UCAs? I found this post below. The thread says 882s with stock weight are too tall?

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/881-or-882-ome-coils-1st-gen-taco.441696/

EDIT: Just got off the phone with Wheelers. They said the 882 springs will not cause any issues with the UCAs

I also got the OME set up this summer and was happy with the results. Still breaking in the suspension. You’ll probably get close to 2.5” with the 882. I got 2” after some driving with the 881. A diff drop might be advised based on who you ask. I did one.

Yep, that's pretty much it. The shock is ~1/2 way out on the control arm, so that geometry gives you roughly twice the movement at the wheel.

Why is that? Have you ridden in one without a bumpet/skid/winch and 883s? For 3 years now its felt great. More forgiving then the stock trd setup. IMG_20201016_185234.jpg
39 5/8 from ground to fenders all the way around with an AAL.

590# springs are significantly stiffer than what the stock springs were, that being said everyone has a different opinion on what makes for a good ride quality. Some people like stiffer suspension some people want it soft

I have ridden on 600# springs with no front end weight, that's what my Kings came with. Was way too stiff for me, got much better after putting a 100# steel bumper on

I get that but people act like it will be undrivable. My stock trd suspension used to fling my gf up into the passenger window if I hit a bump hard enough. The 883s give my ride a much more stable feel.
