It's so weird I've never had that issue when installing my Kings or my old 881s/5100s but I read about it a lot on here. They've always just lined right up and bolted in.

I've read some people use a bottle jack and others just loosen the cams so the LCA drops more, but make sure you mark them if you do that.

Tacoma and 4Runner both required that I use a bottle jack.

Only difference is, the Fox 2.5s easily turned at the bottom with a screw driver through the eyelet.

The King 2.5s holy shit...had to run a rod through that damn thing just to turn it.

I wonder if having the SPCs makes the difference on mine, allowing for more droop. Sounds like stock arms are the common thing here for needing to do the bottle jack/pry bar method

    Could very well be it.

Remember how little mine drooped when we were at HH?

    Aren't the kings adjustable?

That doesn't change whether or not the UCA has extra articulation.

The stock UCA sucks, and just getting the right alignment alone is an issue when lifting.

No. But when I used to be into Hondas the adjustable coilovers were way easier to install then non. I'm sure you don't install the kings all the way up fully extended. The omes are fully extended per say.

    Kings are adjustable, yes.

But no one removes the preload, just to install them, and apply preload for the lift they are looking to obtain.

They're installed, by most, with 2.5" of lift already set by the factory. Though some people do remove 1/4" of preload which means 1/2" less of lift. Still quite a bit of preload on them afterward.

My old 5100s and 881s bolted right in as well.

Kings were set to 2.5" of lift out of the box

The difference has to be stock vs aftermarket ucas

I don't know. I have 883s which are prob longer then kings or 881s. You only need about 1/2 inch more hard push and the 883s slid right in as well.

883 are same height as 881, just more spring load

Got almost 4" lift over stock on my 4cyl reg cab with 881's. Lol. Swapped for 880. Did Not drive them to "settle" the springs but there you go.

It is so crazy to me the variety of lift heights people get with OME springs. The weight difference between the 4 and 6cyl engines is only a couple hundred pounds too so it's not like there's a huge difference in weight between our trucks. The difference in the cabs though probably has a big effect on it

Yes I have to wonder what the manufacturing tolerances are at OME. Not to talk shit on them, they have a good product as far as I can tell. However, one of my 881's was 0.25" taller than the other - and yes i know some of their springs are supposed to be different for driver/passenger, 881's are not.

Also lots of differences from stock on our trucks. I read one post a while ago talking about the many different spring options that came stick on these over the years and trims, so that hasto play into it as well.

Anyway, it's a good thing springs are easy to change if you don't like them, and another TW member will scoop your spares in no time

I'm sure driver adds quite a bit of weight; from a horse jockey to Jared before his Subway diet :burp:

One difference could also be how high people's trucks are sitting before changing springs. I think my front end was at about stock height but my rear was definitely lower than it should've been. I started out at 3" of lift with 881s and now it's about 2.5" over stock.

Are the 880's a better ride? My 2.7 double cab with no weight up front feels a little harsh overall with 881's.

880s have the same spring rating as 881s and 882s (500#), the 880s are just shorter to provide less lift

Good to know. The guy at Low Range told me that 881's were made for more weight up front and had a different spring rate than 880's but I wasn't sure if he was correct.
