There’s a local DCLB TRD SPORT with about 200,000km on it for a steal, drivetrain and everything works but the frame is rotten. Was debating picking it up, stripping it for parts around here on the forum.

Let me know on your thoughts. :) Would be a fun project for me and my boys. :)

If you have plenty of space to store the vehicle and parts you take off that is out of the elements/rodents. Just keep in mind that people are not going to buy everything so you will end up with a decent pile of random odd and end parts no one wants 3-5 years down to road. If you look at how junk yards work they keep vehicles for one or two years of people pulling parts and then they crush and scrap the rest that doesn't sell.

If the frame is rotten how about everything else. Going down that route usually only make sense if you are looking for a major component for yourself and sell the rest to help offset the cost.

It is a steal if he pays you $1,000 to haul it off. If he questions that, this being the truck from the other concurrent thread, mention to him that when Toyota offered to put a new frame under it he should have done that and then you might consider paying him instead of him paying you.

I can't think of too many parts coming off a 200k km truck where the price (shipping included) would be too competitive against buying brand new OEM direct from a local dealership or used with lower miles on eBay from a known scrapper with a return policy.

This is one of those 'economies of scale' areas where you'll have to be competitive or it won't make sense.
