Are Tacomas ACTUALLY reliable?

If they really want to make a proper Pro package then they need more than just minor improvements over the OR. Give me heavy duty chromoly front axles and a front locker for my extra 10k. That would be a proper Pro package.

 

325K on my 4Runner and everything still worked when I sold it to business owner that uses it as a parts delivery vehicle. Sold my 1st gen with 115K, it was still like new and I regret selling it to this day. Got a 2nd gen now and it's a daily driver/trail toy. It has never left me stranded anywhere. Now all of them had little things here and there, just dealt with it, fixed it or replaced the part. Best vehicles I have ever owned. My wife's 4x4 Suburban still sits on jack stands, because the rear axle exploded at 125K. Bought her a new car, it was easier.

 

Id like that too, but you will never see that.

What I really want is for the offroad bits to be available for all trims. Ideally I would have bought a fairly basic SR or SR5 with a locker and the Pro suspension. I dont have a need for the leather, high end tech, JBL, etc that really drives the cost of the Pro up. Ford is doing this with the Bronco. You can put the Sasquach package with 35" MTs, lockers, lift, skids, etc on the most basic Bronco that they offer. If I didnt use the bed of my truck on a daily basis that would be really tempting.

 

TRD, Toyota Racing Development, when was the last time Toyota raced off road, really, Toyota as a company hasn't campaigned an off road truck since Ivan Stewart? No new development going on there....

 

2014 bought used in 2017 at 35k miles. Closing in on 100k and 4 years later, my mechanic is bored and making his dime off somebody else. Another 100k and it will officially be “reliable”.

 

The new pros have new adjustable UCAs. Which is a first for Toyota.

 

Their trucks are used in every damn race though lol

I think that's just the pros that have that. But it looks like the trail edition of the SR5 also gets a little bit of a treatment

I have owned 5 Toyotas

05 Camry - 400K+ miles (I gave it to my brother and he sold it for $600)

03 Corolla - 350k miles

14 Corolla - 117k miles and counting

20 Tacoma - 17k miles

17 Highlander - 85k miles

I’ve never had a single issue aside from the road noise. That’s one thing Toyota sucks at. I wish they would insulate their vehicles better.

Well, funny, as soon as I saw those UCA's I knew based on the look that they had to be adjustable. Probably just a better eye for stuff like that I guess. I did a quick search and sure enough. Don't ask for a link. you probably should be doing some searches before you post. Frankly, I am kinda surprised that you did not do some research to prove me right or wrong. You replied 6 months after my post, which means there should be lots more info now and you didn't even bother to do your own search

I'm only my first Toyota. But I have about 85k miles on it bought new. I am not easy on it, it hauls, tows, and goes off road. Ive done nothing but oil changes/ a diff service and air filters. No issues at all. I've never had a vehicle that after this many miles feels like its brand new. Where as at this mileage an f150 would feel like its about to fall apart. I look forward to seeing how far I can get this thing down the road. A few months ago I was on a job site and a guy I was working with had a 2014 Tundra with 630K the only thing he had done other than maintenance was 2 fuel pumps and he said the thing drives like new. If i get half of that out of my tacoma ill be very happy.
