Two years ago and for severs years prior to that prices were depressed but prior to that they had been higher. I don’t think the depressed price should be considered the norm as much as a welcome reprieve but who knows. There are several technologies that aren’t fully mature even though they’re available so what “makes sense” isn’t the same for everyone. An ev commuter, even a cheap one, would be worthless to me since my truck is a working vehicle so a high end Tesla is absurd. I’m hoping that as the tech matures there will again be a market for cheap, reliable, ev trucks like the ones that made Toyota a worldwide success. I don’t need that excessive payment either.

Reliable, yes, but not as inexpensive as they used to be. All bells, whistles, and creature comforts. Manuals are all but gone. And not in a base model ev version any time soon. It will happen at some point but no idea when. The improvements in torque and response should satisfy most save those who insist it also makes the right kind of noise.

There was plenty of that when horses were traded for autos. Progress is never beneficial for all and arguably not enough to call it progress but it’s still inevitable.

I hit 300k on my recent 4runner sr5 4wd, only replace brakes, ignition coils and an alternator at 280k... was planning on keeping it but wanted a newer truck for long road trips... :fingerscrossed: for the new taco... knowing things arent built how they used to be...

My last two trucks were Ram and both were reliable. I will likely buy another. One I had for 16 years and went over 250K miles before I got rid of it. It is still in-use today. The other I had for 7 years and was at 125K miles before I got rid of it. The later had a radiator leak at about 60K miles. Of the two, I only had to replace u-joints in one of them and the rest was routine maintenance. One of them had two recalls that were easily taken care of by the dealer.

The fit and finish of both Ram's and the lack of rattles, squeaks and road noise were much better than my current '22 Tacoma. We have a 2009 Camry with 225K miles that has a more solid feel than the new Tacoma.

I worked for a construction company and our vehicles were a mix of brands including Toyota. For the most part we bought our vehicles used. The Chevy's required the least number of repairs, the Ford's and Dodge/Ram more. The Ford's had the most major problems and required expensive repairs to the drivetrain. The local dealership and Ford provided great service and stood behind the warranty and product. On one occasion when we lost an engine shortly after the warranty expired, they still covered it 100% under warranty.

Maybe I got lucky with the Ram's but I know others that own/owned them and would buy again. From someone that is objective and not a fanboi of any brand, I do not think the new Tacoma is as bullet-proof and reliable, nor are the other brands as unreliable, as some make them out to be. Of all the brands I think Ford are the most over-rated. My $.02.

I had a 2015 Ram with the 5.7 liter Hemi that I really had no complaints about. Based on that experience I bought a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee when I traded the Ram. Without getting into details suffice to say the Jeep was a problem from day 1, so much so that I actually started the lemon law process. Parts miraculously showed up to fix the engine problem it had once the manufacturer received the lemon law notification. That was the end of my relationship with FCA/Stellantis as far as I was concerned.

It's been almost 15 months since I bought my Tacoma and its been rock solid. Not even a single squeak or rattle out of the dash. Short of a KDMax tune, a Meso Total Tail Stage 1 Kit, and a BakFlip G2 cover, the truck is OEM and will likely stay that way. I think this one is a keeper for more than the usual 3 years.

They are reliable. In my experience, if you own a non-reliable vehicle you don't even have to ask the question, you are fully aware that it isn't reliable. I have had a Jeep and a Defender that I would have never had to ask. Thus, IMO, if you have to ask, the answer is "yes". YMMV.

It is really all about maintenance. If you go out on a dirt bike for a long hard muddy ride you come back and make that bike clean as a whistle, change the oil, change the air cleaner get all the mud and dirt off the suspension, check the brakes, the cables, suspension, etc. Do the same for your truck and it will last. Too many people IMO don't spend that amount of time on their truck and are amazed when it fails.

I’ve never driven a vehicle less than 12 years and expect no less from this one. Probably the most comfortable, easiest driving one yet.

After owning a BMW and a Subaru, I can definitely say my 2016 Tacoma has been the best in terms of maintenance. Compared to other car manufacturers, I’ve had the least amount of problems with Toyota so far

I only wished these tacoma's were offered to those without all this safety system, and electronic bs that wanted them that way. Just give me a simple reliable mid size 4wd, and i'm happy.

A wise man once told me when I hopped up my 400EX in 2001. High performance = high maintenance. From what I have experience in Tacomas and toyotas in general is they are behind the curve in performance/ technology but make it up with lower maintenance and improved dependability.
