Tacomas are considered sport trucks. Insurance premiums are higher on them. Mine went up from a 2016 GMC Sierra crew 4x4.

Dont remember how much. But it did go up a bit.

Find another insurance carrier. I have a spotless record and they just jack my rates up year after year anyway. I just dumped my last one and got a new one. I call it the $600 dollar rule. When insurers yank my combined home and auto up to a rate that I was paying before I switched to them, I dump them. It seems the new insurer always comes in right around $600.00 cheaper than the old.

Am I the only person who gets a quote on insurance before I buy a new vehicle?

Mine is about 300 every 6 months, about the same as my 2015 Tahoe which was 25k more.

Simply stated: Get a quote from other insurance companies. Shop around.

When I went from a 2005 Camry SE (V6) to my 2015 Tacoma V6 4x4 my insurance cost didn't change.

Nope. My local insurance agency is freaking awesome. I email them from the dealer and tell them I'm looking at a 2015 Tacoma. They email me a quote an hour later. I email them a VIN. They email me a proof of insurance an hour later. And they aren't beholden to a specific insurance provider either. So they get me the best rates for what I want when I want it. And it costs me the same or less.

Looks like I'm at $1,013/year on my Tacoma. I was quoted $1,172/year for a Chevy Colorado at the same time back when.

    Nope I did too!
Was worried the 4x4 would kill me. Personally it only increased 20 a month.

But yes very smart to get a quote before buying a new vehicle.

BTW - Is your screen name "Fast Frank" because you drive over the speed limit a lot? :mudding: If so... maybe that's why your insurance rate is so high? o_O

You are going to pay more to own this truck when it comes to insurance, reason why is because some of that cost that is coming into factor is the fact that it simply says TRD on it.

If you own a TRD model (even though they are nothing special over an SR5, be prepared to pay a premium for it.

Yes, insurance is expensive. Most motorists are oblivious idiots, it makes it hell for the rest of us.

2010 Frontier Pro-4x in BC, Canada. $112.50 per month. $2,000,000 liability, $200 deductible ($100 for glass), $250 tow allowance, roadside assistance.

10 years safe driving, no additional operators and 45% discount helps. I don't think a new Tacoma would run much more.
