Are their pros to smaller wheels?

I currently have the stock 17" wheels on my 17 TRD Sport. I've been looking into getting some winter tires but also potentially a slightly beefier tire for spring-fall. Is there a pro to going with a smaller wheel like a 16"? I assume cost is better but outside of that are their pros to smaller wheels? I don't really do any off-roading - just occasionally logging roads here and there trying to get to fishing spots.

For the type of travel you like I'd stick with 17 inch and go with C load tires. You get the durability with lower weights and more choices of tires in 17 inch.

I had 17” wheels on my 2010 TRD Sport build and never found need to change them. I have 16” wheels on my 2020 TRD Off-Raod and prefer the larger sidewalls, though again, don’t know if I’ll ever find need to change them.

16" on my 2017 Sport. I found the tires cheaper for 16" vs. 17" (Winter tires, still run 17" for summer)

More options for tires, more cushion, lighter weight, cheaper.

A slightly taller sidewalk with 16”. This can lead to a slightly softer ride so long as you aren’t running “E” rated inflated to 50psi. Mostly it’s preference as to the look more than any pros or cons.

Smaller wheel gives you more meat to beat.

16” are great for sidewall, but much more tire options available in 17”
