It all depends on your needs and what you can afford. I just picked up an 08 Double Cab 4x4 with sr5 package #2 and it suites my needs just fine. I couldnt justify spending the extra 2 or 3 grand for the sport or the off-road package. The only thing I wish I would of gotten is the $500 tow package, even with out that I love my truck!

Look at the TRD Sports, like other have said. Since the majority of my trucks life will be on road I opted for the sport mostly because it has a limited slip diff, and the awesome looking hood scoop, or 17 inch wheels didn't hurt either. I'm close to 6' 2", and with my front seat adjusted for my height, I can then sit in the back behind my seat with plenty of room. Wish you all could see my truck right now, just got back from the dealer (who washed and waxed my baby for free) - but if I took pictures and posted them, I would get in trouble for posting truck porn.

Thanks, I'm just messing around. I sometimes wish I had 4X4, but I'd never use except to go to the beach. I love my Tacoma.

Jealousy, jealousy. You know your state has grown up to run with the big dogs when you get a Tacoma edition named after it.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
i was stationed out there for 3 years...i know how it is...when my state takes over the north and turns 85% of it into barren (sp) wastelands and inhospitable desert, then we'll be cool enough to get a badging like texas....plus we're SC/NC!!!! WE DONT NEED NO STINKIN' BADGES!!!!!!

I bought the TRD Sport and added the X-SP wheels (1700w/tires), step bars(350) and Borla(375). And I sold my stock wheels for 500. It did however take about a year to get all that for prices I was willing to pay.

I would say TRD with everything on it, but that may break the bank.

I like the TRD for the interior, inverter, and mainly the towing package. The towing package includes a trans cooler, bigger battery, bigger alternator, and of course the hitch and trailer wiring plug. The bigger alternator and trans cooler is good to have even if you never tow anything.

Plus I like the painted grill, mirrors, and door handles on the TRD sport.
